Hermine
Everyone make it through OK so far? Got some flooding here in DFW, and what looks like a lot of property damage. So far Lake Lavon hasn't flooded, but there are still more storms rolling through. Nothing like what has already come through.

Wish Hermine would turn off the spigot. I am tired of rain. Lots of flooding down around this neck of the woods. You guys keep your heads down an be safe.

Small tornado hit our neighborhood. An amazing straight line diagonal through the houses. House across the street lost part of it's roof. Messed up our fence, others had trees snapped in half, and yanked off a chimney. Our neighborhood is under Marshall law. Cops at every corner keeping the "outsiders" away.
Yancey, the dogs and I hid in the laundry room. Pretty exciting.
The news was so focused on the Dallas event, they forgot about us on the east side. We didn't get a direct warning.

Glad you and Yancey are OK .. I was sitting in a late meeting in McK and the sirens went off. We were in a different tornado path .. it went west of us several miles. I had my iPhone Radar app open so I could watch it. It must have rained 8" here

Steve: I was watching the channel 5 news and was wondering about you, Jacobs, Kristen, and other East siders...We're glad no real damage and that you and your sponsor are all okay. Did your tool box blow open? I swear I saw something flying off of one of your vehicles. Call Al Boenker! Yikes!

I came really close to having water in the house today here in NE Johnson County. I think I'm going to buy flood insurance.. Need to do some landscape work too.

Steve,
I am glad you guys made it through OK. That one was just a little too close to you. We got a bunch of wind from it, but no damage that I could see last night.

During my dog walk this morning I saw even more damage. More trees snapped in half. The twister ran south to north in almost a straight line for about 3/4 mile. Only one person that I know of actually saw the thing. Others only saw debris slung around. But no "freight train" sound usually associated with the events. That must be with the larger ones.
One junior scientist observation is; tornado's must turn counterclockwise. It ran down the middle of the street behind us. When I was looking out the back, our globe willow tree was damn near horizontal (looked like a cartoon)the direction the twister traveled. The fence is also whipped in the same direction. I couldn't see the funnel beyond due to the rain. Our rain gage read 5.5" this morning. WOW!
Calling State Farm this morning. Do I hear new fencing???? At least thats better than new roof and structure as my neighbor will be calling for. He was running on generators this morning.

Glad our family didnt' receive and serious damage. That was a stranges storm. I think it came across the yucatan up and up the gulf? I left Frisco, Tx Tuesday morning about 7:30 and brought the rain up to Oklahoma. We needed the rain but not the floods. The folks over in OKC and Norman had/having a lot of flooding etc.
So, except for a couple pair of soiled fruit of the looms everything is okay? In Tulsa we got some rain and high wind last night. Blue skies this afternoon.

Clois,
I want to offer my thanks for seducing Hermine and luring her away from DFW.
I never heard about the lady from Killeen.
Steve,
You are correct, they turn Counter Clockwise most of the time. A very powerful system can produce anticyclonic which turns clockwise.

there's this one:

Update: the Killeen story I had posted was old news. Can't find the current one I heard of, the driver must have been found.
The Austin lady in the story above has been declared dead, but still not found. The news coverage of her Lexus SUV are sobering. The thing is like a pancake from all the tumbling
