Would you buy a cobra with a Chevy 350?
Question:
Would you buy a cobra with a Chevy 350 and fiberglass cracks that need repair if it was cheap?

What do you consider cheap? Whats cheap to you might not be cheap to me or others !!
If cheap means real cheap, of course buy it. Motors are replacable and repairing fiberglass can be fixed. Need more info !!!

Yup
The fiberglass can be repaired, the secret is to make sure the cause of the crack is repaired also.
On the motor, as long as you consider it a throw-away. The chebby motor has no value when installed in a Cobra. Kind of like a 351 in a Corvette. The line isn't real long.

What MAKE of cobra? The right car and right price - sure - just replace the motor with the correct blue oval and you're in business.

No big deal on the fiberglass cracks, but the Chebby engine could be a deal breaker for me unless it is real cheap. 10k? Only with great suspension, brakes, and rear.

Nope.....pull the motor and replace it with an FE or small block, or.....never open the hood in public.

Oh yeah, if it was cheap enough to make it feasible to replace the motor with a Ford 351W or 302, I'd do it in a heartbeat- as long as the rest of the build was up to snuff.

It's a cheap roller. Take the engine out and put it on craigs list and replace it with a Ford.
You really need to understand the source of the stress that's cracking the glass. Understand that first. If it's the frame run, don't walk, away. Mine was getting a little bit of stress by the side pipe ports. Nothing a little motor mount adjustment didn't take care of. You really need rigid mounts as the flexing that happens under the torquey acceleration can cause the engine to lift especially on the drivers side. I believe that SPF even has a motor mount adjustment tip published. (Drill a hole and bolt it.)

You couldn't be more wrong unless you're talking about putting one in an original Cobra. A Corvette is a regular production car and some have the same value, or more, than original Cobras. To put a Ford motor into one would destroy the value of the car. Putting a Chev. motor into a REPLICA COBRA may lessen the value to some or raise the value to others. Regardless, it's not an original car and NEVER will be so who really cares??????

Everyone knows that horsepower is cheaper and more reliable with a BOWTIE motor than a blue oval.

If I wanted cheap and reliable, I'd buy an entry-level Chevy Aveo. Oh wait, a $10k Cobra replica with a 350 IS an Aveo.
Just kidding, buy what you can afford and love it all you can.
