Paging James Baldwin
James,
Where did you find your alum. 427 block? I've been looking around but can't figure out where to get them.
How do you like the engine? Anything you would have done differently? Thx!

I know James is out of town this weekend. The block he has is a Shelby Block...not cheap.

5300.00 for a new Shelby block. I know because I'm ever so close to buying one.

Holy cow! Is that a bare block or a short block? Is there a site somewhere on the www to check this out? Thx.

I have heard nothing but good things from Guessford Machine http://www.gessford.com/cobraparts/fblocks.htm . They sell Shelby Blocks. Plus they are able to deal with Turk!
If you want to go directly to the horses mouth, here it is http://www.carrollshelby.com/engines.htm
I am not sure what the price is, but I do know the block is one bulletproof piece. It looks like a Top Fuel block with all the webbing. It's almost a shame to only build it with 500 or 600hp!

The price quoted by JBAIRD is for a bare block.
Dove's alum block is listed at 4995.00

Hey Ed!
Sorry for the delayed response. Like Matt said, I was out of town this weekend.
I hope you have the answer you were looking for. If not, let me know and I can give you the specifics you want.
Overall, I have about 400 miles on the car and the engine is great. The best part of the engine is the weight distribution. The car handles completely different than an original FE powerplant. Your get small block weight and handling with big block power.
I got my block from Jim Green's Performance Center. He buys 5 at a time from Shelby and receives a discount so you might pay a few hundred dollars less going with someone that bulk buys the blocks.
I believe George Anderson at www.gessford.com (or 402-463-9844) may do the same but don't quote me on that. Besides, George is an active participant in the club and is very reputable.
Good luck!
Hey Drew!
You should post the specs of your new Shelby motor. I am VERY anxious to hear the latest design!

Thanks James, I've got the info now.
Anything special you had to do with your engine? If you had someone build it, can you let us know who it was & if you're happy w/them? Thx.

Jim Greens Performance in Lynnwood, WA built the motor and so far I am very happy with it. He builds many FEs and even has a few SOHC motors in his shop.
Nothing special was done to the block but the heads were reworked quite a bit (to use larger valves and increase the flow).
