Lightbulb How much are you REALLY making !?!?!?

So your Cobra is making how much HP?! Says who -- the manufacturer of the individual parts? Did you also add 10 hp for those Splitfire plugs you added, and another 20 for cleaning the rear-view mirror?

Well there's a way to find out for sure... measure it on a dyno! I'm trying to spark some interest in having a "Cobra Dyno-Day" here in Austin where we find out how much we're really making. In addition, you can find out if you're running rich or lean, etc.

Colvin Automotive here in Austin charges $75 for hookup and including one run on their chassis dyno, and $25 for each additional run. This includes fuel and air monitoring at the exhaust to measure fuel-air ratio. With approx 10 people, we can get this for $65 + $15 for each additional (They haven't confirmed the minimum number for a group discount yet).

Without fuel and air monitoring, it's $54 + $15 for each additional. I really don't care for this, cause fuel-air monitoring is very valuable.

BTW, the only reason you would want additional runs is if you actually want to tune on they dyno to optimize your tune -- measure, change jets or tweak the computers, and run again.

BTW 2, the numbers from a chassis dyno are rwhp (rear-wheel horsepower), after all drivetrain losses.

Typical sessions are 20-30 minutes which includes hookup and runs.

Let me know if you're interested or not, and I'll try to set something up for a few weeks from now.

Cheers,
-Neil.

Neil,

Since our last conversation...I'm in! I'd love to know the "real" numbers. There is also a place down off of Ben White Blvd. I'll get the name later.

I'm up for it.

I wish you guys could get up here for this....We are going to discuss one of these in Dallas.

We found a place that will discount us and give us a full day for just us.....$60 for 3 runs with printouts and time to adjust in between runs....Not to mention the joy of seeing the numbers come up on the 35" TV they have in the shop.....

Have fun!!!! Let us know the results.

Matt

Hey guys,

I'm in for sure! I've got a dyno sheet on my motor before it was installed but I'm dying to see what it does at the rear wheels.

Either one, Austin or Dallas.

Not to rain on anyone's parade...but while you're going for those "real numbers" keep in mind, no two dynos are alike. Good luck determining which one's accurate.

True, but they're much closer than adding up numbers from the product brochures of all the parts you put on it.

Now which one is it that has the highest numbers again?

Hey Neil,

Count me in, too! I'd really like to tune in the carb for proper a/f ratio & efficiency at speed.

Default You guys are something!

I can't believe all you computer wizards are going to hook up your cars to the dyno. I suppose now you are going to tell me the slide rule will be replaced by the calculator.

Hook em up and let'm rip.
