So why does every topic that doesn't even start off that way have to return to beating dogs and kicking dead horses? I guess it hasn't been brought up for a while so maybe it's time again. But nothing new will be added...
The CSX being sold explains why it was titled a 1965 if anyone would bother to read the description.

The Car… This all aluminum rocket was recreated by Shelby American in 2006, but titled as a proper 1965 as it was produced with many OEM period parts and certified Shelby craftsmanship. Not to be confused with a tribute, this car was produced by Shelby and has a CSX production vin number that represents its a genuine Shelby car.

I understand that - but even a CSX isn't titled as a 65 in all states. CA no longer does, you get a new VIN even though the CSX VIN is recognized in some states. Mine somehow slipped under the radar screen in CA I think because it was a retitle from another country (Mexico). Not all states will title it that way any more. Some do. Texas and Colorado do.

I think that perhaps the oxymoron here is that the SPF is listed at the auction as a 2004 while the CSX is listed as a 65.

It is an interesting academic discussion. I wonder how states that title a Shelby CSX4000 car as a 65 handle a Factory 5 1933 Ford Roadster replica, or a Superformance Corvette Grand Sport? There, maybe I added something new. It is a question I've never seen asked in the framework of this discussion.

Good for them I could care less...as stated I waste a lot of time having to come across what is not what I am looking for. If I wanted a 1965 made in 1987 Cobra with OEM period parts I would put that in my search engine.

Why don't they just put all that intel in their title instead of 1965 Cobra.

I also have no issue with what is original/kit/continuation/pretender/copy/reproduction...just put it in the title...
