Default Dan Hardiman's Reply to Steve Parks Insurance

Steve, I have been out of town on business and thought I owed a response not only to you but to the other Club Members that I currently have their Insurance Business First, Steve I take what you wrote in your post as being unfair to me and an attack on my character and Integrity. Let's air the facts. First off I told you as I tell everyone that I write their business that American National offers excellent rates in their Classic Car program AND THAT THEY REQUIRE WITHIN A YEAR THAT YOU PLACE AT LEAST ONE VEHICLE IN THEIR REGULAR AUTOMOBILE PROGRAM. You were sent a letter from American National dated on 11-7-01 that your insurance on your cobra was going to increase to a regular rate since their records indicated that you did not have a policy with them on your regular automobiles. I too received that letter and sent you a second letter dated 11-21-01 requesting that we get together and allow me the opportunity to quote your regular automobiles to keep your rate that you were paying on your cobra. Actually it would have decrease down to about $300.00 per year since we would be able to take advantage of further muli-car discounts. I then followed up with a phone call where I reached you to obtain as much information as I could in regards to your automobiles and coverage's. You asked that when I finished that I fax them to you which I did on or about 12-7-01. About a month before your coverage on your cobra expired. I attached a Cover Letter again telling you that I have attached the quote on you personal autos and requested that you give me a call if you had any questions, If I did not hear from you that I would contact you. I tried to contact you several times and finely left a message on your machine to call me to review your quote that I did for you. Steve this is the part that bothers me, I TOO THOUGHT THE RATE WAS OUT OF LINE AND WAS TRYING TO CONTACT YOU TO SEE IF I HAD ALL THE RIGHT INFORMATION AND WHAT THE DIFFERENCES WERE!!!! YOU CHOSE NOT TO RETURN MY CALL AND BLOW UP. I did not know anything about this until other club cobra members called me saying you posted a post about me railroading you for on your insurance. If you were only to call me back after all the attempts were made in contacting you I am sure this would have all been avoided. I have a number of our members Insurance and have never had one complaint about my company's rates or my service. I have always tried to give the Cobra Club Members Special Attention when it came to insuring their Cobras and will continue to do so. The members of our club that have intrusted me to insure their Cobra's,John Russell, Tom Meadows, Jay Nordstrom, Kieth Williams, just to name a few, I appreciate your business and look forward in working with you in the future. Hey Steve, I am not trying to piss you off, I thought that my clients and club members deserved to hear the other side and the truth of this matter. Steve if you wish to discuss this matter further, you can return my phone call on Monday, you should have my number at the office. You do not have to worry about use doing any further business again, It won't happen.

Hope Everyone has a great rest of the weekend. If everything works out as planned, I'll see everyone in Austin.

Dan Hardiman

wow, reminds me of the movie "COOL HAND LUKE", and the famous quote: "what we have here is a failure to communicate". sounds like a shoot out at the OK Corral folks ! good luck resolving this issue. I will stay with my company thanks, increase less than 2% over last 3 yrs. Bill

OK Dan

REMEMBER YOU ASKED FOR THIS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This was not a failure to communicate it was by choice. You see Dan, I learned a long time ago when you see the light at the end of the tunnel "MOVE" it is a train coming

So I will turn on some more light for our Club Cobra Members and show them the "RAILROAD" ( to use your terms)

AND I DID NOT TRY TO "RAILROAD" ANYONE. IF I WANTED TO RAILRAOD YOU MY FRIEND, YOU WOULKD BE THE FIRST TO KNOW. I DID NOT "BLOW UP" I SIMPLY STATED THE FACTS. AS I WILL CONTINUE TO DO. AND I AM NOT PISSED. I WAS WRONGED.

I was NOT told that it was required to move another vehicle to this company. I specifically asked and I was told " NO" it was NOt required but requested. HUGE differance.

I was NOT told that if I did not do as "REQESTED" THAT MY PREMIUMS WOULD GO UP 200%. I did not railroad nor try to railroad anyone. That is the FUNNY part. I did not put this Question under consumer watch because as I stated before, you have done what you said you were going to do. You "TOOK MY MONEY" and provided me with insurance for one year. You did what you said you were going to do. YOU DID NOT TELL ME THAT MY PREMIUMS WOULD TRIPLE. YOU DID NOT TELL ME THAT IF I "DID' MOVE MY OTHER CARS OVER THAT THEY TOO WOULD COST A THOUSAND DOLLARS MORE THAN THE MARKET RATES. YOU DID NOT TELL ME THAT I WOULD RECIEVE A LETTER STATING THAT MY COBRA WOULD NO LONGER BE INSURED FOR AN "AGREED" AMOUNT. YOU DID NOT RESPOND TO THE REQUEST TO SIMPLY MOVE MY PACE TRAILER TO YOU AS A COMPANION VEHICLE. YOU DID NOT TELL ME THAT THE INSURANCE COST FOR THAT PACE TRAILER WOULD BE 100% MORE THAN THE MARKET RATES.

When you called you said without a companion vehicle my insurance would increase "TO" $800.00 not "TO" @$1,500.00, OR $800.00 MORE.

HERE IS THE GOOD PART FOLKS........

I know for a fact that insuring a Cobra with Dan Hardiman DOES NOT require a companion vehicle because He has just renewed
a policy on a Cobra for another member of our club with no increase in premium. THat's right folks Dan Hardiman has pulled a doulbe standard for his customers. You see he wants three times as much to renew the policy for "MY" Cobra and he just recently rewnewed Greg Sellards Cobra with no increase in premium and no cahange in policy and Greg still maintains the agreed value amount clause on his policy. Nothing changed one bit, "NOTHING"

Also When you sold Tom Meadows ( the president of our club) the policy for his Cobra and moved over his F350 truck, the insurance on his truck went up considerably more than he was paying and more than the market rates. This is fair ???

SO what gives Dan. Did I tee tee in your wheaties. If so before it was by shear accident , now..................... well that light at the end of the tunnel, hey

IT'S ME WITH A FLASHLIGHT

Steve and Dan, I should have looked at my Insurance card before I said anything Yesterday. I am Insured with Parish Heacock Ins. Pay 605.00 yearly with no strings attached. It does have mileage limits though. I spoke so much with Dan when I insured both Cobras I thought I wrote at least one Cobra thru him. Hope this hasn't caused any more hard feelings between you two! You will know what it's like when you reach age 54 and develop CRS disease!!

Greg,
Thanks for setting me straight.

To all Club Cobra members.

I apologize for the incorrect statement made above "IN MY LAST POST" regaurding Greg Sellards Renewal.

That still does not put to rest the issue that I was "LIED TO" about the renewal process, and all other issues previously mentioned. That merly sets aside one aspect of the transaction and I thank Greg for setting me straight and we will see if the "other" party has the "INTEGRITY" To do the same with his "INCORRECT" remarks.

Guys,
I appreciate the information we have received here. Good and Bad. But this has escalated beyond what dirty laundry should be aired here in a public forum. I'll keep my insurance where it is and hope you two can take your beefs to another ring...

Steve This is the last response that I am going to post in regards to this matter. I refuse to get on a 2 year old level to discuss this with you any further. As Greg Sellard has pointed out that he was not one of my clients. So once again your facts are incorrect. You were not lied to you just have selective memory. As far as your comment in regards to Tom Meadows insurance rates, I refuse to discuss in detail his information without his permission. However, I will tell you though that once again your facts are incorrect in regards to his rates. I will also tell you that I saved Tom over $780 dollars on his whole insurance package and insured an extra car to boot. I consider Tom to be a good business man and do you think he would move his coverage to me and my company if it was going to cost him more??????????. Steve Give it up, It boils down to this you weren't lied to, you were sent three letters notifiy you what will happen and I tried to make several calls to you to verify the information that you gave me to see why the rate was different I knew something was not right. But yet, You chose not to return my phone calls back in the early part of December. Now you are trying to make an issure out it saying I did you wrong and that you were lied to. I guess I don't understand. I guess somethings were never met to be understood.

AGAIN, THIS IS MY LAST RESPONSE TO YOU IN REGARDS TO THIS MATTER. GO AHEAD AND CARRY IT ON IF YOU WISH. MAKE ANY DESPERATE ATTEMPTS THAT YOU WANT. YOU CAN ALSO KEEP THE FLASHLIGHT THAT YOU ARE HOLDING, BECAUSE THE CLUB MEMBERS DON'T NEED A LIGHT ON YOU TO SEE WHAT KIND OF PERSON YOU ARE. YOU HAVE DONE THAT YOURSELF. THE INVITATION IS OPEN YOU CAN STILL RETURN MY CALL IN THE MORNING AND I WILL DISCUSS THIS WITH YOU AT MY OFFICE. THAT IS WERE IT ALL SHOULD HAVE TAKEN PLACE TO BEGIN WITH, NOT HERE!!!!!!!!

Dan,

This is my last post in regards to you. I am not on a two year old level and will not get to one.

As I stated in the first post. You have done what you said you would do, and that is that. If you chose not to renew the insurance at a reasonable rate that is your choice. You are not the only insurance company ( agent) out there. I did not intend for this to turn into a pissing match between us. Hell up untile you first post I was not even upset. I was simply asking Club members who they had thier Cobras insured with. I simply posted the coverage that was quoted to me. I asked a simple question.

You are the one that stated I had attacked your integrity. I did not attack you, your business or your integrity. You simply cannot attack what isn't there. I simply posted the rates you quoted me as an example of the type of insurance I was in the market for, being mine would soon expire. That is as simple as that.

I did not, and still have not "BLOWN UP". I am simply looking for an alternative carrier.

You stated I have selective memory. Maybe so but the notes I took the day we talked do not forget.

I was not attacking anyone or any company. This got blown out of porportion by an ilicite response. I could go on with what was told to me by this company for hours. I can provide copies of letters that were mailed to me confirming everthing I have posted. I can support all statements I have made. I have apoligized to the club for misinformation that was given to me in error. I only repeated what I was told.

As for what the Club and the guys here think of me. Your right Dan, I have taken care of that and I am happy with the way Club members confer with me.

I will keep up the hunt to find insurance and I will also keep posting the information I recieve here for the club to see.

I must say that this is a great example of how the i-net can really go bad. Here we have two really good guys, that failed to communicate through a POSSIBLE problem involving business....THEN One decides to post for all the world to see.

PROBLEM IS: PERCEPTION!!! One cannot emphasize and truly come across with the proper feeling with only a key pad and letters. To me, Steve's post was not totally slaming Dan, but it did seem to portray Dan as "the" Insurance Company, where he is really an AGENT of the company. Steve, I know you wanted helpful info from other members so as to get your insurance premiums at a reasonable rate, but you went beyond that. You were upset with Dan, not American National. I know Dan wanted to talk with you and probe into WHY your quotes were so high.

Steve, The way I see it, you got a years worth of cheap premium, that's good, no loss here. Now you are right back where you were before you ever talked to Dan in the first place. A simple post to ask about members companies and premiums so as to help you shop insurance could have worked. You could have cautioned the members about increased premiums that they may too face, but I feel it went too far.

I know that you both are good businessmen, and I know that Dan took Steve's comments to heart because his business is close to him. Dan came back too strong, and you both started pissing at each other rather than working toward trying to honestly address the problem. How unfortunate.

It doesn't matter who started it, It should be OVER. (Jeez, I sound like my Dad) You two guys need to have a beer and blow this whole thing off. I'm buying the beer and I hope to see you both at Austin.

Doug

Default Take it elsewhere

OK ... we are over the line. I opened this thread because it said "who are you using for insurance" Since I am like all of us and am interested in learning how I can have confident coverage at a lesser $, I entered the brutal spin zone. I know both Steve and Dan are great guys, but this is an example of what happens when we use this forum for purposes other than intended. If we have a burr under our saddles about another team member, take it up with them off line and in person. Our site being free of personal controversy is what sets us apart. Make no mistake, we are above this... We are the Texas Cobra Club and therefore by using the great name of Texas; a brotherhood ... let's keep it that way bruddas.

As I said before,

I am not pissed off at Dan Hardiman. He has done exactly, EXACTLY WHAT HE SAID HE WOULD DO.

You are correct Doug. We ( both of us) should let this be over and I am willing to do just that. I am looking forward to meeting Dan in Austin. I have no qualms with him or his business and my post was not ment to jab him or his business. I mearly asked a question and posted ( originally) the type of coverage I was looking for. This got out of hand and it was not ment to. I will not apologize for asking a question on this forum, that is after all the reason we read these post to begin with.

I have spent the better part of a week contacting insurance companies and I have not had the time to post all the info I have gathered. It is EXTREAMLY lenghty and I am not sure anyone would read it anyway, because of the bad tone of this thread. I have contacted over fifty insurance companies. Some responses are good some are not. I was surprised to find some companies we all use are not going to renew thier policies this year at all for Cobras. Some insurance companies have set maximum loss amounts. Guys our world as we know it pertaining to (COBRA) insurance will soon be changing. I will make a post later that has all the info I have gathered.

As for the beer I will be happy to Doug, and thanks, Dan how about it.

Default Free Beer for all

What the heck, if a beer can solve our problems and bring people together is true harmony...........I'M DONATING THE KEGS FOR THE EVENT, AND MAYBE I'LL COOK UP SOME CAJUN JAMBALAYA TOO. I'm sure we are all smart enough to know our limit and not drink me back to my poverty statis of a few weeks ago. Stretch, if your listening, you know I'm good for it. I'll bring my credit card.

This IS and WILL be a fun time to be had my all. I just don't have a darn car to bring, 'cause I just sold my other demo car tonight. I may have to come in a new car I am finishing up on, with A/C, auto, radio, and hardtop. You guys surely won't pick on my ladies car??? Remember who is buying the beer!

You mentioned that the car you are builing are for the ladies, That car would not happen to be pre-sold to Dennis Rodman would it??
