Some help from you EXPERIENCED kit owners.
I have a semi completed car. NO paint and no interior. Other than that the car is on the road and I am not going to get it painted until I pay it off. So, I started looking into wet sanding the scratches out. I have selected a small area on my trunk lid and wet sanded with 600. I have the scratches almost out but I have removed the luster of the gel coat. What can I do to restore the gell coat or atleast get a shine? I have not applied any wax or compound or anything. Help....!
You can sand and buff gelcoat just like paint' but I wouldn't use anything with silicones in it. It may come back to haunt you when you paint later. I use 3M Heavy Duty Compound with a wool buffing pad after wet sanding with 1200 grit Paper.

Kount is right NO SILICONES !
We Wet sand with 1200 then 1500 then 2000 and finish off with 4000 then use a Meguires coumpomd/polish with the 4000 and buff with a polising wool pad yeahp that sould do it ...
