Whiskey Dick's was a nice meeting place. As Dennis pointed out, it's hard for family's (it's a bar), but the location was good and the beer was cold. Nice to see everyone again and to check out the cars. I don't think the Harley guys have heard anything as loud (or louder) then their bikes until we fired up some of the cars. I had to leave early (6:30ish) so I know they heard at least one set of pipes. I'm sure they were impressed when Rocket Man fired up his ride. No joke folks, he runs consistent 8.20's in the quarter mile (wheelie bars, parachute and all!). Considering most Cobra's with traction and experienced drivers can tip into the 11's, an 8.20 is next to the speed of sound.

As for the Texas backroad tour that Dennis and I embarked on, we had quite a good time. While it may or may not be true that we saw the century mark a few times (in mph ), the only witnesses were few hundred cows and some dead bugs. Last I heard the cows won't turn us in. While Dennis complains about my short blast from 55 to 100, I too can recall a certain Aggie maroon / white cobra getting a little sideways leaving a light in Hempstead ).
We had a nice cruise back into town to meet up with the rest of the gang. I had my younger brother out with me this time in the Cobra and he commented how relaxing the cruise was. Very relaxing indeed, even at speed.

If anyone has any cruise ideas, I'll listen. I've already 3400 miles or so on SPF#1230 since early January, and they've all been fun. Of course, our baby is due Oct. 18th, so that might be a bad month! Maybe we can get another cruise set up before the next meet?

Still sunburned,
Scott, SPF#1230
