I admit I hadn't thought about any reselling issues, so that certainly is something to consider. And I *sure* don't want you guys making too much fun of me... 
Another reason I was thinking of the LS1 was the fact that it's all aluminum, and might cut down the weight even more. I will be using this car for some weekend driving, and monthly autocrossing, so I was thinking about a really nice distribution of the weight. I must admit though, that I have no factual data comparing an assembled LS1 and an assembled 302 or 351. 
It may turn out that I have no choice, and I have to go with whatever's cheaper, which may be a good ol' 302...
