sorry to hear about tyhe tough times. hope everything works out for everybody. i'm not sure about in austin, but here in corpus when some of the tech people were layed off they became school teachers. if you have a college degree the school districts will hire you on a temp contract until you get certified. we started school short 40 teachers. statewide it was something like 40,000! if you can put up with todays generation its steady pay-won't get rich-and you work for 10 months. you need the two off to recuperate-trust me. for instance in san antonio they are paying $230 a day for certified substitutes. just a thought.
