Cool Re: Mustang Question

OK, I'll jump in on this one to dispell any notions of what is, and what is not a Pace Car Mustang...First off, there were 35 convertibles, and 190 coupes. Coupes (not the convertibles) were rewarded to the dealers who exceeded their sales goals (known as the Checkered Flag promotion) the most in a 9 month period. These select dealers took delivery of their coupes at the Indy 500 that year. Ther dealers then either kept them on their showroom floor (I know of one dealer who still has his), or sold them off for a price sum (hey, getting full sticker back then was considered a rip off). You get me the full VIN, and the door data plate information (must have the door dataplate information to verify its authenticity), and I'll let you know what you have on your hands.........

Yours in Preserving Fords,

Bill S.

From what I understand, they were never sold, they were given away by dealerships. Is that right? I know some of you are true car people and might be able to shed some light on this for me.

Thanks
