I talked with a guy in Dallas a few weeks ago and he registered
his FFR with no windshield wipers. He only had a small racing screen on it. Said he had no problems. I would call the divison of motor vehicles and ask.

This is only an issue during inspection...when you register they simply need proof that its been inspected.
I have no wipers...and I have a windshield. I simply told them there were no provision for wipers. No questions asked...but I can assure you it depends heavily on the inspector. You can get temporary clip on wipers, that they use on hot rods/older british cars, just to pass inspection.

I checked yesterday with two different inspectors here in Houston and both said that it didn't have to have a windshield but had to have wipers and blades...how odd.
I am putting the full windshield on and adding a "clip on" wiper motor with a "arm, blade with rubber" so that it will not be a hassle to get it by inspection.
They both said they would inspect it as a 1965 and there would be NO EMMISSIONS check for it.
That is GREAT news as my spec racer doesn't have any emission provisions.
Just my .02 worth.

State Law
Texas State Law does requre you to have windsheild wipers if you have a windsheild ! So a clip on will pass the emission deal is another story I hate to get into this because I am a licence State inspector For Texas and hate there rules .I think they only apply too Ed C in Austin thu

Tommy
I had to put them on mine. I put them on and when we didn't need them I took them off. You can buy a chrome "bullet" to slip over the threads of the risers and they look pretty neat. You can get them at most auto parts stores, if not Parr Automotive in Oklahoma is where mine came from. Cost me about $5.00.
It only takes about a short time to change from the wipers to the bullets. If you wanted you could keep the wipers in the trunk ... just in case. With as much problems as are being had getting these road ready I would not want to give them something to rib you about.

Why does no one want to put wipers on their Cobras in Texas? They do come in handy when it rains. In fact, I used mine today.

I agree with David. I have used mine a few times on misty mornings. Glad I have them.

I registered my car as an antique, limited driving. It is titled as a 1965 Cobra and no inspection is needed. No windshield or top but wiper bosses are in place. It is no fun in the rain.

Texas Weirdness
As in every state, there are weird laws, that are inconsistently enforced. For example, contrary to popular opinion, front license plates ARE required...but it is not up to the inspection station to enforce that law. Same way with wipers.
If you run without them, you simply are providing another source of income to the local constabulary...when they stop you.
