3-two's set up worth???

3-2's on factory Ford manifold, with plumbing and linkage.

This is a ready to bolt on assembly, with fresh carb kits etc.

What do you pro's think this would be worth???

4RE KLR 11-09-2003 09:12 AM

Talk to Dennis Mosley, He will know. He has three two's

mr0077 11-09-2003 10:17 AM

Dennis has "two" three twos on his motor...he has a six duece setup!

Johnnyquest 11-09-2003 03:23 PM

I looked at Four 48 IDA's ( some listed them as IDF ), manifold, carbs, linkage was $2895! This was for a small block Ford application. The three 2-barrel carbs are Weber 40 DCD with progresive linkage. They both look sharp with Velocity stacks!

I haven't had my eye on the them for a while but if you are looking to sell let me know.

427 S/O 11-10-2003 06:39 PM

Joe, your well aware of ebay, you also know to do a completed search on a FE 3x2 intake and carbs. Why haven't you
done this? and then tell us what it's worth?

mustangmendez 11-10-2003 06:49 PM

Tony,

To some carburetors are like boobs bigger is better. In reality unless you are an all out racer, simple is better. A single 4 Barrel will give you excellent performance without all of the head aches of multi-carburetors.

My 2 cents

Johnnyquest 11-10-2003 07:24 PM

I like the boob thing! Webers are the most intoxicating thing on a engine period. Now with the electronic fuel injection, stacks are the next best thing if you can get the fuel management stuff to work! EFI stacks are like ...........should I say implants! Yeehaw!

Uncle joe,

I have seen them several times for sale on e-bay....They seem to sell for more than the single four setups ,($300.00 +-) but less than the dual quads....($800.00+-)....They are not that popular for some reason....something about combinations of three...cant remember.....

Good luck...KK

Multiple carbs are more efficient than a single carb, no question about it!

The trick of course is setting them up properly! It's not "that hard" for a guy that understands "carbs". Of course, many don't.

A nice setup should (rebuilt) go for about $1200.00. A setup that needs a rebuild about $800.00. Be shure that you are getting the period correct carbs and a Ford manifold. I ran this setup on my 67 390 Mustang and it was very nice. Excellant throttle responce and driveability! The sound when you open it up is also very nice!Adjusting the linkage is very important. There is a specific order in which to set them up. Once you set them up they stay and need little work after that. This guy knows how to set up a tri power unit and he sells a tech piece to explain in very easy to follow instructions on how to get them right. Here's the link

Good Luck, Sal.

multi carbs just look better!:3DSMILE:

They may or may not give you better performance...I would bet the latter, but when you pop the hood and those babies catch the passer by's eye it's over.

If I was going to be a serious racer, I'd go with a single carb or FI, but since I'm not and the car is a big toy anyway, I like more carbs......Boob thing is a good comparison.

joe garland 11-11-2003 04:40 AM

Hey Guys! I am happy with a single 4 barrel. Besides I run a 351 W. The thread states that this set up is for the FE. I don't own these carbs or manifold, I just found out about it from a friend .If anyone is interested, I will try to get his PH. number for you.

joe garland 11-11-2003 05:05 AM

OH!!! By The Way!! Next time I am I need fo a preacher, I will call you Perry.

Try this site...

This is the tech-page;

http://www.gerlecreek.com/documents/tptechnical.htm

This is the classifieds;

http://www.gerlecreek.com/documents/tpclassifieds.htm

At least one listing showing about $1100.

I bought my linkage, and fuel log here - also bought this guys tri-power bulletin which goes into a lot of detail in how to set'em up correctly.

I worked with Joe Bunetic (listed about 5-10 ad's down the page... good guy.

Well tunedMulti carbs are definately a better set up for a street motor ,BUT it is a pain and an art to tune them right, when they are,the result is better fuel distribution ,low end torque and fuel economy than single carbs.
They are not well suited for todays racing since constant jet changing and altitude/atmosphere adjustments are eminent.Tk

4RE KLR 11-11-2003 09:29 AM

yep

More is better. I have never driven a car with as quick a throttle response as the Cobra had with the four 44 IDA's. It would get from 850 RPM to 12,000 RPM in LESS than a heartbeat.

PUrr like a kitten and run like a bat outta .... well you get it
