Proposal for Consideration #2
After receiving many requests to move our annual spring meet for warmer weather, I propose that we move next year's meet to March 24 (Thursday), 25 (Friday), 26 (Saturday), and 27 (Sunday).
What say you all?

The hell with two events...
...let's just arrive at the end of Feburary and stay until the end of March. We're sure to get SOME good weather--
Seriously, whatever the majority wants. Either date is equally do-able, or not, for me depending on my schedule, so I'm equivocal on this one--

oh boy....I need to think a day or two...I'll even admit...it is tempting....even though I like how it is currently on my birthday weekend. Always gives me grounds to override any activities my wife may have planned!

We need to make sure the Hotel can accomidate us. I would hate to have all of us scattered around the city with no central location.
Ed have you check with the Marriot about that weekend being open!

It doesn't rain in March?
I'm voting on Tradition (February as always).

Yep!
I checked with the Marriot Hotel, no problems for either February or March.
I also checked with El Arroyo's Restaurant, no problems for either February or March.
Still waiting for Ryan to put up the voting poll to see which month has the most votes.

So you guys want to have a poll every year?
Do we have short memories or what? Ryan did a poll last year, see the link below, and a decision was made. Is this now part of the annual event? Are we just going to keep having a poll every year until those that want to change get their way? Then do we have a poll every year after that for the people that want to change it back? This is crazy. I'll be out of the country for a week, hopfully you guys get this decided and stop this annual crazy debate.
http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/t391...-&pagenumber=1
I think some of the best quotes from that thread would be...
from Ryan
"I think the vote is sufficient! It stays where it is....
Results
38.71 February
19.35 March
32.26 April
9.68 May
I am laying this to rest until the next president comes along and decides to revisit the subject. I don't think we're having a problem with turnout, and until that becomes a problem, I say we leave it where it is. I think every other month provides scheduling conflicts, and I am not going to be the one to screw it up!"
From Ed Csoltko...
"I'm glad it's all over, the tradition continues in February. By the way, who started this thread? "
And to end the thread...from John Russell a note titled "Well said, enough said" which reads...
"Ryan,
Good move!
John Russell"

Dennis,
I keep forgetting the archive files on this web site. I'm glad you brought up last years poll.

Fellow Texas Cobra Club Members
We had a wonderful time in Austin last month.
It would have been 10X better if it were held this weekend with the Sunny March weather.
January and February typically are our Winter, Snow Sleet, Hail and Ice Storm in the south.
For the Annual event to flourish it needs MARCH weather.
I forsee it becoming one of the biggest events in Austin.
It's a shame we could not sit and watch the videos and meet all the members. It was not pleasant weather outside. Those big rigs went to a lot of trouble setting up and getting there and it would have been standing room only under the tents, had the weather been better. I felt sorry for the ladies bundled up in ski wear. How many Texans actually got to admire and drool over your car. I personally wanted to see the Keith Craft engine and meet Ryan Logan. didn't happen.
When Dick Flesher sent me a blanket a couple of years ago, I think he meant for me to hang it on the wall, which I did. Would that he was with us, I feel he would vote to move it forward to March.
This event needs to change dates now and not in 10 years when we have our next Texas ice break.
I PROPOSE (blame me) that Ryan puts up a vote sheet and since Dennis is out of the country, give it until April 4 (Texas 500 Day) for members to vote.
I will live with it and I will be there whenever it is. It is no WORK for me. I just put my fat butt in the Little B and drive to Austin. I have no trailer to load. If the weather is bad I will just stay in the room with my James Foxe and my lovely wife and have a fun weekend.
I envision the group with placards on the cars like "car shows". It would be nice to know who is the proud owner, whether it be a handle or a name, and maybe what city and state it is from.
I envision a schedule board where we could find out who is cooking the jambalaya, when and what it costs and who is invited. When the photo lineup would be and where the door prize drawing will be held.
I envision a pink drawing for the ladies only as they are the backbone of our club. Half a dozen prizes would not hurt.
I envision a Cobra trivia question game at the pub in the Marriot one night. Like, what is the lake north of Shelby's home in Pittsburg, TX. Everyone knows that right?
I envision a small donation from everyone for the three Round Rock policemen that showed up to tell the Ferrari to move. If they gave us an escort to the first open road everyone would be together and they would be on our side.
I envision a plaque for the newest Cobra purchase (running and at the event) and a one time for the oldest car.
We live in a time of change and it is time to shift gears as life goes by fast at 160 MPH.
You are a wonderful group of people and I will be with you if you have it a Christmas or whatever.
Who knows this voting could be an annual event!
Let's do it and anyone that is not happy with the outcome can throw me in the pool at Marriot (if you can pick me up)LOL.

Depends on How You look at it!
Does anyone remember what I said about last years poll? Is the glass half empty or half full?
If you factor those members for February (38.71), against the remaining members (61.29) who wanted another month other than February:
Results:
38.71 February
19.35 March
32.26 April
9.68 May
It looks like 2/3 of the membership didn't want February (my perspective).
This is why I'm asking Ryan to put up yet another poll just for February and March to settle this debate.

I vote March. Why not try it?
Dennis,
I don't see a new vote as a bad thing. There are new members and people change their mind. If it stays as is no problem. Either way, I'm showing up.
