Default Headin to the Big Easy

We're going away for the weekend!!! And it doesn't involve cars or hunting. Yee haw!

The timing of the trip is because we are going to see the Doobie Bros at the Gulfport Grand Casino on Saturday. And since we love that part of the country we're making a weekend out of it.

So now I'm looking for ideas on stuff to do. Alan is NOT a planner so his response is "We'll do something." Yes dear.

Now I know I'm getting Beignets and Cafe Au Lait at Cafe Du Monde, but the rest of the trip is wide open. We're staying right on St. Charles and the streetcar stops right in front of our hotel.

And I've heard all about the drive-thru daquiri's from Rhubarb, Gary, and friends. So that's a likelihood also.

What else is there besides cars and hunting? Well maybe trucks and 4WDing.

Never been there. Have fun. My wife would be jealous.

Make it a LLOOONNGGG weekend !!!

Then after you have collected all the beads you can carry (don't forget the suntan lotion) and you get Alan bailed out of jail ....

Come over to No Problem Raceway 55 miles west of New Orleans.

Mrs. Snake, I just got this email reply from a friend who lives there...might give you some good ideas. Have fun, I'm going there the following weekend!

Hey there! I'm not sure what your friends are interested in doing while here in New Orleans, but the best thing to do is to check out the website www.nola.com. This website lists everything that's happening in New Orleans from music to food. Of course the kick-off to St. Patrick's day starts on Friday, so there are parades going on this weekend as well as next weekend when you are in town. They will be able to find something to do here, there's always a party going on.

Thanks y'all!!!

Fordnut - Actually Pete Fountain is at the Casino Magic in Bay St Louis. We found that out when we were there for Snake Rattle and Roll. But he's there on Tues, Wed. No luck! I looked him up this afternoon and his place at the Hilton is no more. I want to go see him. Alan has but that was decades ago on a trip with his folks.

Clois - I would only let folks who 'bothered' to come down to Austin last weekend see the pics. Actually I'm not stupid, there's no way I'm working for beads. I can just imagine it'd end up on some Wild Girls video and then I'd be getting calls from people I'd rather not know watch those things.

Fred- We are thinking about doing a side trip to No Problem. He said y'all would be down there this weekend. It'll all depend on how the weekend flows.

Mr. 0077 - I'm off to check out that website. Thank you!

Colleen

RE: No Problem

Colleen,I think the dates are confused.
Keith & Jay have the track rented for 3/18-3/19.Most are driving down St. Pat's Day.
The track has a big national Musclecar drag event on 3/20.

NO VIDEO ???

Surely a few still shots posted here won't hurt.

Mrs. 66 Snalke,

I really wanted to make the Austin run this year but I am still waiting on my brakes to get my car off its jacks. We had a great time last year in Austin. I plan on being there next year.

By the way, good decision on the beads.

I hope you have a lot of fun in the Big Easy. I will be in Baton Rouge next week for a little track time (UPS tells me my brakes will be delivered tomorrow).

Clois

Hi Clois

Hi jacking Threads for personal messages again.

Sorry guys

Good to see you are out and about on the track there.

Tried to get over for 'DVSF' this June but work stopped me.

A no go for 'Run n Gun' this year as it clashes with our Australian Nationals.

So it looks like DVSF next year. Oooh welllllll.

Hope all is going well for you there. Have fun on the track. Stay safe.

Cheers

Bernie

Try the Burbon Street Blues Club (BBC) for inexpensive booze. Three-for-One during the day, and Three-for-One upstairs all night. BTW, the upstairs thing is not advertised. As far as Food, The Gumbo Shop is always a good choice. If you like good pizza, try the Mona Lisa http://monalisa.neworleansfanatic.com/ . It's easy to find, just ask some locals in the Quarter to point you in the right direction. Have Fun!
