The Texas Cobra Club invited to Shelby Texas Nationals

FORT WORTH, TEXAS – AUGUST 20, 2004 – The Texas Cobra Club is invited to be part of the 27th Shelby Texas Nationals on October 28, 29 and 30th at Texas Motor Speedway. We will coordinate this event with The Texas Driving Experience and will include a Thursday night hospitality party, Friday track day on the NASCAR oval-infield or infield only, banquet Friday night and a car show on Saturday. All events will be at the Texas Motor Speedway facility in Fort Worth. Entry fee includes Thursday night hospitality party, Vendor/Swap meet space, Saturday Car Show and access to the track during the event. Track time and Banquet will have separate fees per our registration form. We do have a fee for those just entering their car in the Saturday car show. We will have a silent auction during the event and plan on having a number of interesting items to bid on with the proceeds going to Carroll Shelby’s Children Foundation. Event entry forms can be found on SCAT’s website, www.scatracks.org.
Be part of the 27th Shelby Texas National’s “High Octane Fun Weekend”.

Gary,

We are not coming unless you get SCAT to agree to make the auction a live one instead of silent.

Vicki was going to bring 30 or so bidders ( all named Vicki, I might add).

Remember the Hilton auction? What a hoot!

Two comments:

1) {Re: Greg's suggestion} Is it possible to make a few of the silent auction items, live instead? Some of the bigger items?

2) Greg - what are y'all doing the 18th of Sept? We've got a silent AND live auction we are going to. Alan tends to limit my bidding, but somehow he's bid on new tires for the Cobra, an exquisite handmade quilt, Cowboys tickets, etc. I do way better when he's not with me - a day with the forensic unit in Garland, and a really nice present for our upcoming 10th anniversary. So it'll be much easier to convince him to "let" me bid if I've got company.

Talking Kristen, COME ON DOWN!!

Kristen,
Gary or Susan will have to post who has actually signed up, but I WILL BE THERE!!! In fact, Gary will be riding with me on the Roval, as my passenger bailed (woosy!). This is going to really be fun, and you need to get Pepe back from Keith Craft and come do this! It is sort of like MotorSport Ranch, but a lot bigger rush on the NASCAR part of the track and the infield is going to help you remember what you learned at MSR. The instructional education that Texas Driving Experience puts on prior to the cars getting on the track is the finest explanation of "what to/how to/why it happens" I have ever seen, and that alone is worth the money, even if you never get on the track!
Come drive with us, you will learn SO MUCH more about your car and yourself you truly should not let this opportunity slip by.

I know nothing.....just kidding. Come one come all this is going to be a hoot. You can find out all of the details along with registration forms etc...etc... Thursday night is hospitality night and they will be doing tech inspections as well to make Friday morning run smoother. Friday is track day and banquet that night. Saturday will be the car show and awards. We will also have registration forms etc. Saturday the 16th at the Unique Performance show. The host hotel is the Doral across the street from the track. We are encouraging people to come out on Thursday or actually any day between now and then to get thier cars teched in which will make everything run smoother.
I will ask Don, the Pres.) about making a few things live and see what he says. this is our first time at TMS so we are going through a learnig curve much like we did for the Texas 289. If this goes well I'm sure we will be back next year with a little experience under our belt. Hope everyone can make it.

Come on Kristen you know you want to?

We will have you doing a power slide and drifting by the second session. Besides this is in your own backyard and you can sleep in your own bed at night.

I hope you can make it.

Clois

PS. Todd I think you can represent Atoka quite nicely. After all that Backdraft hot rod of yours needs to learn some manners. Heck you're a hundred and fifty miles closer than I am. Put two or three of your restaurants decals on your car and write the whole trip off as advertising.

Kristen,

I noticed you are getting "PEPE" back today. So, does that mean you will be at TMS with the Texas Group on the 29th?

John Ross,

How many cars are you expecting?

Hey Clois, glad your coming down. I would guess there will be 10+ TCC cars on Friday and closer to 20 on Saturday. Always a pretty good turnout.

When are you getting in? Are you staying in Plano? I am going to head out to the track Thursday afternoon, wanna make some noise. From my place it is a nice 45 minute drive with very little traffic.

If I can find someone to pull a trailer or bring my truck I will get the mini Cobra out.

See ya in a week,
John

Looks like my schedule and the weather is going to come together next weekend. I think I'm going to be able to make it. I look forward to meeting some of you next week.

I'll be coming in from Houston. Anyone else coming from SE Texas?

Take care,

James

John,

I thought I was going to leave Tulsa before noon on Thursday but (unfortunately) I have a meeting I must attend and won't be leaving here until about 3:00 or so. I guess I will have to Tech on Friday morning. I will get to the track on Friday about 6:30 or 7:00 am. Yes, I will be staying at my daughters house Thursday and Friday nights in Plano (about 2 miles east from 121 and Spring Valley. What is the fastest way to the track?
