Default New Kirkham Coming

Looks like I will have a new Kirkham in about a month. I guess I will bring it to Dallas where Rob and I will finish it. I do not have a Cobra Club to join here in Arkansas so maybe I will leave it down there and see if I can join ya'll club. I just have to find someone to build the engine now and I do not want to waite to long. I have a feeling Rob and I will be waiting on the engine guy. I talked to him today and his wife said maybe in a couple of months if she gets a few things she wants. Look forward to coming to one of the meets.
I also aquired a real nice 69 Shelby GT-500, 4speed car with matching numbers, 50,000 miles, red with black interior. I have already been through the engine and put back all olriginal. This engine was standard bore and never rebuilt. I reused the pistons and all with a Comp camshaft, other than that it is all original. We balanced and blue printed it. The engine made 500ft/lbs torque and 450HP. This is one of the first times I came up on a real nice car at a far price. We have also restored the underside and the engine compartment. They are just like they came from Ford with all the stickers and markings. We have the smog equipement and all on the car. The neat thing about this car is that every light on it works and even the cigaret lighter still works. I may apint in the future as this is the only week link on the car, nic e at 5 feet but has a few flaws.
This car thing is a sickness that there is no cure for. I guess that is a good thing for me. Thanks, Keith

Hey Keith

That is not too far to drive once a month. Besides you can write it off as a business expense.

Keith,
I fully understand how hard it is to find a good engine builder.
I located my builder by word of mouth and on this website. One builder's name kept coming up.

I have found his work lived up to his reputation.I hope you have as good of luck as I did in finding a good engine builder.

Have you checked out the area you live in ???

Thumbs up

Congrats Keith,

Can't wait to see it. So tell us when the FE Master decides to build an engine for his personal car ..... What kind of FE does he get?

BTW: I'll be calling you soon, I need a small block for my other car.

John

Cool Congratulations Keith!............

I know finding a good engine builder is difficult, but if you ask around, you'll find one. I know of at least one good one in your area.

Hope to see you at our monthly meetings and can't wait to see your car.

I am thinking of a 510C.I. FE with a Tunnel Wedge 2X4 set up that makes about 725HP on pump gas. I have toyed with trying to work out some kind of fuel injection unit on it for future sales at the shop. We have made the fuel railes and fixed the Edelbrock Victor intake already for an engine we are doing for Unique Performance that will have ablower on it. It will use a carbureted style throtle body that we will blow through. We are also doing some blower FEs that will blow through a regular style Holley. I will have the car before I have the engine ready. We are sending the Kirkhams a nice all aluminum FE engine for one of there personal cars. I think this will be good for everybody involved. Look forward to coming to one of the meets. Thanks, Keith

Talking Welcome at last, Keith!!

Keith,
You know, owning a Cobra is not a requirement to joining the Texas Cobra Club, so technically you actually have been a member for a while- as has Rob for that matter! So, I guess the only thing you really have left to do is send a check to the current President of the Texas Cobra Club
Congratulations on your Kirkham, and I will gladly just settle for a ride when the time comes
Welcome,
John Russell

Like I say I learn something new every day. I do need to make one of the Club Cobra meetings sometime in the near future. See what new stuff everyone has cooking and try to drum up some business. i would even finish the Kirkham for someone if they wanted it and just get another one. I told the wife it was for advertising anyway and for sale at any time. That was the best I could come up with. Thanks, Keith

Thumbs up Keith, come whenever you can!

Keith,
Come to any meeting you can, since they are open to all! While it will allow you to look at lots of different options in the Cobra world, we can all give you lots of "hints"- or excuses if you will- that we have used at one time or another when we "needed" something for our cars!
We have quite a collection of them, but unfortunately the vast majority involve money!
Come visit us anytime, the door is always open!
John Russell
