Question Title and state inspection requirements

In the market to purchase a pre owned cobra but one question persist in my mind, what year should the cobra be registered as and does it have to meet current emissions standards.

I have seen cobra claimed to be registed as mid 60's and others with late model registration. If it is registed as late model how does it affect the state inpection.

Anyone shed some light on this subject.

Default Safety Only

I paid $12.50 the last two years. Insurance and title both say 1966 Ford Cobra as the model. It takes about ten minutes.

You have to decide whether you want to title as a mid 6os vehicle and have it be an antique (limited usage), or get the car titled and inspected with a current license and inspection, which is less limited on use. My old car is apparently 25 years old -- never had a horn. I made some repairs and have it licensed as a street legal vehicle (goes into a classification with "dune buggies"). That way I can drive it whenever I want. Every state is different though.

You can't register them as a 65-66 anymore. You will have to register it as the year it was built. They have pretty well closed the loop on Assembled/replicas with 60's titles.
What does the the current title say? If it's in Texas just pay the taxes and transfer it.
As far a inspection they go off of your insurance card. Get your speciality insurance company to say 1965/66 whatever on your insurance card. Then it requires a safety inspection only. Around $13.00. Just do a search on Texas Titles here and there is a wealth of reading.
Hope this helps

We enjoyed the Bluebonnet bowl in 84(?) Houston seemed surreal -- lots of glass and concrete. Bused everywhere. You are always welcome back -- bring the SPF and register it as a dune buggy!! I forgot -- you enjoy making a decent living in a low tax environment in TX.
