Thumbs up Ya'll Come

Zachman,
Got to second Ken's invite. Going to be a laidback, more user friendly way to get to know some of the Austin and Houston active members. I went to last year's Austin meet and really didn't connect with anyone due to the sheer size and pace of it. Most already knew many folks there so they were pretty much occupied with renewing acquaintances. By coming to some of the smaller events, like this one tomorrow or the monthly Houston meetings, you'll get to know some great folks and it will make the Austin meet so much more enjoyable .

Your Cobra specs are awsome. I've been wanting to meet someone with experience with that engine and trans. My son and I are planning to build a kit in a year or so and that's the combination I'd been thinking about. Hope to meet you soon.

Zachman,

Aren't you near Longview? If so, the guys in Houston and Austin are a wee bit too far to travel. Jump over to a thread called "Interest in a Poker Run" or "DFW Feb meeting" in the Texas Cobra Club forum. You'll see all of us DFW misfits jump in there. You'll get answers until your hearts content.

There are a couple of folks closer, Quinlan and maybe Tyler. But Jim (Gym J Cups) from Forney and myself near Rockwall would be the closets that I know of now. I'm a newbie, SPF 968 acquired in September 06, so I might not know of others your way.

If not close enough, looks like you have to cross the border.

Default Newbie

Thanks for the welcome. I live 9 miles from Longview, Texas and 45 miles from Shreveport, LA. I appreciate the invite to th Brenham. I'm an engineer for the BNSF railroad and have a real hard time of getting a day off. I did see the Lone Star Cobra at Chucci's shop in Hallsville. Bob Chucci is my neighbor. I looked at the car but couldn't make a deal either. I spent my retirement on my lifelong dream to own a Cobra. I have many questions and hope to meet all. I agree with Mike when you go to a large meet it's hard to connect with new people. Thanks for all the reply's. Dave Greer

Red face Geography Challenged

Dave,
One thing about Texas is that it IS BIG . Sorry for not knowing where you were. I'd still like to meet you and see your Cobra. Let's try to do that in Austin in March. Since I'm less than two hours from there, I'll probably just show up Saturday. Not sure, my wife has a great aunt who lives there so we might come up Friday to visit her as well.

Tommy Gayer is near Shreveport and travels all over east Texas for his job. I'm sure he'll chime in here shortly.

Zachman,

If you tried to make a deal on the Lone Star at Chucci’s you must know Scott Owens, a really great guy and a good contact for Ford parts. I grew up in Longview, still have family there, will try to make contact on my next trip, love to see your snake. I just got involved with the Dallas group, great people / lot of fun / have supplied a lot of support and help on my build job. Someone said, “It’s not the car it’s the people you meet with the car that makes this such a great thing”. Not my quotes but believe it is true, I am seriously considering letting Chucci do my paint job and a lot of the body work on my Lone Star. He did some very innovative things with PH’s / Scott Owens car.

Default East Texas

No relatives from West Texas. Wouldn't want to damage anyone's heritage. I didn't have the pleasure of meeting Scott Owens in person; but I did talk to him several times on the phone. Very personable. Chucci's painter is one of the best. Would like to show you the car anytime. Thanks Gary.
