Friday Night Spring Meet Tailgate - Dallas

OK, Dallas, we've got the Friday night tailgate party in Austin this year. The Austin group has picked up the Welcome tailgate on Thursday and Houston is working on their traditional post-cruise party in the parking lot for Saturday.

I was hoping we could start working on the planning and maybe discuss it more at the meeting next Saturday.

Thoughts? Ideas? Comments? :)

Bwana Snake 02-26-2007 07:23 AM

I will not be able to make the meeting on Saturday but will commit to supplying 30 pounds of Elgin smoked German sausage for the tail gate party. Someone will need to supply the grill.

I am not sure about the meeting this saturday either, but will be in charge of the wet tshirt competition. ;)

think it'll be chilly next month???

Wet T-Shirt Judge

I'll bring my large calipers ... :D

Seriously, Colleen .. I'll volunteer to do anything to help that you want done. If needed, I can bring a 22" Weber Kettle, charcoal, etc. But we'd probably need about two more of them .. don't know if you're doing Bwana's sausage or catering or what?

Looking forward to it! I'll be at the March meet on Sat ..

Cheers!
Sam

here it is, Chris!!

Texas-Saluki 03-05-2007 08:27 PM

ok... so not sure how I missed this thread... but I am always late I guess (blame stacey) :3DSMILE:

so 30 lbs of sausage is good for a few.... I will get some brats also...and maybe some other goodies :MECOOL:

we need to find someone with a 5-6 foot charcoal grill... I am shocked no one has one... I will see if I can find one to rent

hey,littlecobra 03-05-2007 08:49 PM

I'd wait until we hear some folks from austin/dallas/houston. it's night; a lot of folks don't get 'on' til work!!!

no sense rushing into it, and really, i bet we can borrow something!!

you didn't answer the other thread about baby #2.....?????

Mrs 66 Snake 03-12-2007 09:34 PM

OK, so we've got some offers of meat. (A girl's gotta love that right? ;) )

So we need another grill.

And let's do last names A-I do sides, appetizers (ya know, chips)

Last names J-R can do dessert and other assorted yummies of the sweet variety.

And last names S-Z can handle ice and beverages. I know that some folks don't imbibe the hard stuff, so some cold drinks are probably a good idea. But I'm sure that an assortment of beer, wine and liquor will be appreciated. ;)

If you can post what you are bringing we can see where we still need to fill in.

There is a Walmart across 35 if you want to wait til you arrive to do your grocery shopping.

Bwana Snake 03-13-2007 07:59 AM

I will step up to 50 lbs of sausage and the fixings. Would we want to do the sausage on a stick or with hot dog buns, let me know which? I will need to know if the sausage is a go by Friday the 16th so I can get it ordered.

sounds great, Gary, but I'll let Colleen give the official "ok". ;)

Colleen. would you want me to bring a ton of paper/plastic products??

I can do: plastic divided plates, plastic silverware, plastic cups and paper towels. (since i am woman and can do everything, I will also bring my designated 'side' item.) :D
surely i can do better than chips!!!
Kristen

Woo Hoo I got the liquor :)

Matt

Bwana Snake 03-13-2007 09:12 AM

Kristen,

With the sausage served as a hot dog or on a stick I don’t think we will need paper plates and plastic ware, just napkins.

Beer

I fall under the "S" so i will bring a couple cases of beer. :JEKYLHYDE

SSSammy 03-13-2007 11:48 AM

Weber Grill, charcoal ?

I will bring my 22" Weber round grill .. unless Chris or someone finds a bigger alternative? It would not be adequate for 50# of sausage;) I would be just as happy to bring a large cooler with sodas and bottled water ... looks like there's plenty of beer coming :D

Sam

Bwana Snake 03-13-2007 12:04 PM

Sam,

These are pre cooked sausage so all we will have to do is make sure they are hot through to the center so we do not have to do any real heavy duty cooking.

Gary

hey,littlecobra 03-13-2007 01:46 PM

Gary, i'll bring plates, forks, etc, for the sides, dips, chips, veggies, etc.
Rolls of paper towels work MUCH BETTER than flyaway napkins.
(experienced at parking lot parties ;) ) :D

Remember, everybody, this is for the entire population at the meet! Not just the Dallas group. Lotsa beer, lotsa ice, lotsa cokes, etc!!! :D

Of course we aren't 'feeding 100' with a gourmet meal; it's snackies and sausage and sides!!!

the more the better!

I guess the Houston and Austin groups must be planning their special evening surprises on their own 'yahoo'groups. hmmmmm.
Can't wait, and looking forward to it!

Need more grills

Pre-cooked .. got it, Gary! Excellent! Still think we need another grill or two or one big barrel grill. Let's see if anyone offers ...

Sam

Bwana Snake 03-13-2007 05:01 PM

Sam,

If the Austin group is doing a tailgate Thursday someone should have a grill we could use, maybe the hotel will have one. I will call tomorrow and find out. If not I will try and get my nephew who lives in Austin to source one for us.

Gary

Bwana Snake 03-13-2007 08:09 PM

Kristen,

50 lbs will give us 150 sevings, think that is enough?

Gary

hey,littlecobra 03-13-2007 08:22 PM

yup! :D :D
