Default July Austin Cobra Club meet

Ok, please put on your calendars that 7/14 is our next monthly meet date. Currently the actual time and place is TBD. At our June meet, it was suggested we should keep it a breakfast-brunch event. Anyone wanting to name a place and time, please post accordingly. We would like to suggest a bit of driving with a photo opportunity of the attendees be planned. Richard's suggestion to go to the lighthouse located out off FM 1431 is a good one, but he may not be available that weekend to direct us. In any case, we have a planned date.

At this point, nope. We are wide open to location, time and what happens afterwards, along with whatever the weather will be.

Mike,
I will have to miss the July meet. We will be on a plane to Florida. See you August. I am still getting ideas south for the future. I hope to have it to you before we leave.

Time and location has not been decided but it is on for the 14th. Been kinda of watching what is happening in the surrounding area as lots of roads are being affected by the rain storms. If we go out of town in basically any direction, the back roads appear to be closed or under repairs. Keep an eye on the forums and see what develops. If you have a suggestion, please post it.

We have been entertaining a short run of 100 miles or less to one of the outlying communities from Austin for brunch or dessert but as stated, we need to see where the roadway leads.

the rain is never going to stop....or at least it seems that way. At least there will not be any fireworks related fires this year in Texas.

Well the weather appears to be getting back to normal. Here's my suggestion for our July meet. Let's meet just before 10 AM at McDonald/s on Hwy 71 just south of the FM 620 intersection & Hwy 71 in Bee Cave. Be gassed up and ready at 10 AM to roll on to Driftwood via Hamilton Pool Rd and down FM 12 through Dripping Springs and south on to Driftwood. We can return on FM 1826 up to Hwy 290 and on to Hwy 71 north back to Bee Cave. Round trip should be about 100 miles or so. That's my best guess. Plan on lunch at the Salt Lick. I think we can beat some of the crowd by getting there before noon. I need to state we have not driven this route in a Cobra or know what the roads will be like but we did hear on the news that Wimberley was not hit like Marble Falls and there were no road closures, etc. in that direction. I’ve heard that the BBQ is good, so let’s check it out.

Restaurant map location -
http://maps.yahoo.com/index.php#mvt=...0.130319&mag=4

Their website - http://www.saltlickbbq.com/

If anyone has another suggestion, we're open to make a change.

Mike

Mike, I also posted a reply on the Austin Cobra forum and wanted to let everyone know that there is no problem with those roads. I have driven them recently and they are clear. Looking forward to seeing all of you again. Skip

I have a Kirkham roller for sale and you can just move the tranny and engine over to it Friday and you are good to go for Saturday.

Hey everyone,
Do you mind if I come out there and hand out some cards to you guys? We're a local performance shop located in Pflugerville, just trying to broaden our reach.

Thanks in advance,

Dee, it shouldn't take more than 45 minutes (probably more like 30 minutes) to get from the McDonald's on 71 to the Salt Lick, so we should be there by 11:00am at the latest. If you can't make it until 11:30, I'm sure we'll still be there! Brain, I'm sure no one would mind you coming out to the Salt Lick to enjoy BBQ and hand out your business cards...come on out. Skip

Weather forecast does not fair too good if you look at the Internet/TV forecasts 40 - 50%. If it is that high, we will still be willing to go but most likely not with the Cobra. Just so we know, please give us a head count on whether your plan to go rain or shine.

Will throw this out for consideration as well; as an alternative we can postpone 1 week & hope for better weather. Personally, I cleared my weekend for this, my vote is go!

Mike
