Hmmm maybe I will have a way to get mine sooner. I can "pimp" out myself.

Miles,

Off to paint, I wish, my rinky-dinky day job has me all screwed up. I had hoped to have it to paint at the end of next month but I just had three new mil spec jobs hit me on Monday; documentation, documentation, documentation, documentation, dot the I’s and cross the T’s. Going Mad / Mad / Mad but still shooting to make paint by November 1.

Just left Sammy's place, both sidepipes installed, engine is primed, lowe radiator hose is almost complete, but the Distributor would not sit flush, we tried several tricks but no luck, I left but will probably return tomorrow

Default It's Alive !!!!

Friday, Patrick and John came over and we cranked it. Timing was way off from where I thought it was .. but John figgered out which way and ten minutes from when he arrived, we had engine start. Set the timing, ran it at 2000, 3000, 4000 and set the idle at 900. Engine sounds like an FE .. no surprise, right. We got all the tuning taken care of, then I said "look out, I'm going to back it into the garage. Instead, I put it in first and drove it around the block, only camera we had handy was Johns cell phone. Youtube sucks, the video really isn't this bad, but here it is .. turn your audio on

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jzf_TtXiHtE

It came back leaking all types of fluids I've got all that corrected, I think, will do another short drive Sunday. Today is get the gearshift adjusted day, and install the tunnel, shift boot. Had to insulate the tunnel, per ERA procedure. Have appointment with DPS Waiver inspector Mon to get inspection. Then will see if I can get it titled and registered. Will take Monday off work to do all that, fingers crossed. Doing it the legal way to set the procedure for all who come after me

See y'all Sun at the Garland show, in the caddy .. the Cobra is not legal

Sounds great!
If you have all kinds of fluids leaking, then you probably have everything right. These things don't leak, they just mark their territory!

Congratulations Sam.

In spite of a few setbacks, I think you did it near record time.

Default 10 mi test drive :D:D

10 mi test drive last night, shakedown in advance of the state inspection today! Yeeeeee Haaaaaa !!!!! Gawd what a beast! FE's r cule! Didn't want to disturb my neighbors so went over to JRoss house and disturbed his neighbors. Figgered with John's car in the shop they'd be lonely

David Kee Toploader with the Hurst shifter is butter smooth .. fond memories of how they were back then Remember that spring loaded "snick, snick" from 2nd to 3rd?

Oil leakage is indicative of a rear main seal, maybe it dried out over the year of sitting. I wouldn't think neoprene would do that. Also could be rear of the intake manifold, but less likely, or oil pan gasket. All fixable by me without pulling engine.

But I've ordered the gaskets and seals, so it's just work. Any one want to learn how to work on an FE, gimme a call! The fun starts after this weekend's meeting.

Default Inspected, titled and registered :D:D

It's time for a scotch .. maybe two!! I have a real inspection sticker and tags, I followed the legal process, and did not lie to anybody See my notes on the TX Registration thread .. We are making this harder than it really is. Note, my comments on that thread refer to a rolling chassis from a manufacturer, completed by the owner, as an assembled vehicle. Not sure how this works with a turn-key.

I did have a paper tag so I could have some fragrance of legality when I drove the 12 miles to Plano for the inspection.

Now to live the life ..

FE's rule!

There's a thread in here somewhere "Cool Cobra Tags" - good ideas in there.

Um, would you like to talk about our little football game tomorrow?
