A little help needed this Sunday, East of Dallas

I've pulled down the ceiling, added the required framing, installed the gypsum board, tape/bed and textured today, modify the garage door Friday, then paint Saturday. Friday I pick up the new Pro-Park 7 car lift and need some help Sunday for assembly. It's too heavy for one or two people.

East of Dallas in Heath. If anyone is interested, I'm buying beer and wings.

Luvdablues,

I had my Propark 7 delivered to me 2 weeks ago. I used my engine lift to help with the un packing and lifting the ramps onto the cross braces. Other than that it was a very easy build. Hint, Make sure you leave room for installing the lock out rods before you move it up against anything. I had to put the casters on and roll it back out to finish those up. Tell all the buds you need a lot of supervision and they can have the beer and wings. With help you should have a car in the air in 4-6 hours of working with helpers. Also don't forget to get the Hyd. Oil!!!

worth every penny. (above quoted and paid installation from the contractor recommended by Derek Weaver, the Distrib. for my lift.)

will see if it 'works'. what time are you shooting for??
8 am - 8 pm???

ps. they had it delivered, installed and working in about two hours. two men, who could and almost did put it together without saying one word. They've done it a few times, i guess!

worth the $400. skimp somewhere else.
I also hate to tell ya.... garage door movement, controller/motor movements are not a piece of cake. One little problem leads to a big problem....
not saying it can't be done, but....
I know Sam had a couple of 'major' issues with his 'small job' of installing the lift a few weeks ago, too.
Nothing is as easy as it seems, and everything takes double the time you think it will. Not Murphy's law; the law of turning 40.....

Best $400 I have spent in a while, took three guys 2 hours. I'd come and provide "Systems Engineering" services, but it looks like the Fall Cruise is coincidnet with your project and I had already made a commitment to go.

Do NOT attempt to unload the long rails from your truck without help, tho'. They are at least a 3 man lift. One has the hydraulic cylinder in it. The guys set the uprights and crossbars in place first, then lifted the rails from the truck directly onto the cross bars.

So far good advice from all in just two hours time tonight. Keep 'um coming.

The $400 savings goes straight into a new Kirkey road race drivers seat for the Mustang. I'm pretty confident that some east Texas yahoo's with beer, hot wings and written instructions can manage to bolt this apparatus together within 4 hours. Geese, look at Hank Hill. And I don't even sell propane!!!!

Save the money!!!! It's not Brain Surgery. Just good old fashioned Blood,(hopefully not) sweat and tears. Think of that new seat and how nice it is and time will fly by. Good friends, cold beer and wings, Heck I might drive up from Houston. Any football on T.V.? Sounds like a party to me.

If you like Cowboys vs Indians, game starts at 3:15. If we start assembling mid-morning, we should have it together by 2:00 pm.

It's just a Erector-Set, only bigger. We actually get to use air powered tools. Manly stuff. Maybe we'll even spit and swear. (Spitting only allowed outside on the lawn)

Photos from this morning. All I need is some texture, paint, new garage door rails and motor (if I can afford the motor) and hang the lights. Then it's beer, wings then LIFT OFF!!!

Notice how clean the job site is. Trying protect that $200 floor finish job Yancey and I did. Oh yeah, we did it OURSELVES. No help there!!! (Kristen)
Ask Warren from back east how that flooring material works?

Nice high ceiling now. 14' clear!!!

How hard was the floor? I want to do the same thing below my lift and have checked out the ones @ Lowes and they don't seem to difficult. Any secrets to your success with the floor covering?

Larry the Tugboat,

The flooring is Sherwin Williams Industrial Coatings: If I remember correctly, the gray is "ArmorSeal", and the Red and Black is "Tile-Clad". About $100 per gallon retail. Being an Architect, I specify these products for industrial and aircraft hanger flooring. Resists oils, solvents and the gray will not lift from hot tires. I had so much left over I sent the remainder to Warren back east.

I twist the SW reps arms to provide deep discounts, or give me for free. My wife and I used a snap line, masking tape and smooth rollers to apply. The material is very tough, except dragging nails or screws will damage. I've been sweeping constantly to avoid deep scratching.

The new wall paint is SW "Duration Home" satin. I just designed and spec'd SW on a 5 story office building, so the rep is providing 5-6 gallons for free. We used it in the house earlier this year, and our dogs greasy marks wipe off easy.

I also have some neat lighting ideas, but that will come later.
