Time for Insurance, Feedback Appreciated
The body is going on this week and we are then headed to for a safety inspection and alignment. I didn't see any recent threads here in the TX corner for preferred insurance providers, so I thought I'd throw the question out to see who you recommend. I am in Houston.
Thanks,
Jim

He's insuring more Cobra Replica's in TX than anybody, I think. You will have to list at least one daily driver with them to get the coverage on your speciality car. But they have the best price and the most liberal mileage requirement that I was able to find.
He will also work with you on the description of your car for the TX I.D. Card so you can get it correctly titled .. see the separate thread here on that. For instance, your insurance card needs to say 1965 Ford Replica on it somewhere, so you can qualify for the inspection waiver, so you don't need modern emissions, etc.

I ended up with a place called Condin & Skelly in New Jersey. I think for about $470/yr for 5000 miles @ $40K.
Post prices when you get done. I would be interested comparing and finding something better.

Dan's the Man.
You'd be doing yourself a major favor by going with him.
I have 1 Cobra + 3 other cars and a Harley with Dan. Oh,my son has his car with him too.

Cobra insurance
Next month I'm going to change to
Robbin R. Terry, CIC
Midwest Classic Insurance
POB 229, 110 South Fifth Street
Auburn, Illinois 62615
www.midwestclassicins.com
1-888-271-4000
1-217-438-3347 (fax)
Jack has had insurance with him for a couple of years. Lawrence and some of the other guys changed their Cobra insurance with him last year. I'm changing next month. He is half price for the "SAME" coverage. A no-brainer.
More car parts for me.

American National
Changed all my insurance last year over to American National - got a very good package price on auto-home-liability from them.
Very reasonable on the cobra ( $ 600.00/yr ) with no restrictions/limitations - according to what I am told they are the largest insurer of specialty vehicles in the nation.

Try the new Barrett Jackson insurance. Check their web site. I got both of my cars - Cobra plus 2008 Shelby GT - covered for $110K + $80K for about $900/year. We liked their package so well we converted all of our insurance to other companies that DELP brokers. The Collector Car policies are underwritten by AIG.

I have been with Hagerty for a few years and can't say enough good things about them.
I'm on an "agreed value" policy, which is something all should look into vs. "stated value" vs. your standard policies. For me, Hagerty has been great.

I hope you never have a claim with AIG. If you do, you're in for the fight of your life and you'll end up taking it in the AZZ. I just canceled our 2 cars and home with them because of the way we were treated on a very small claim.
I vote for Robbin Terry @ Midwest Classic.
I have my Cobra & Corvette with him. Nobody could come close. Not only is he a car guy, he's also a fellow firefighter.

Your existing insurance carrier first. You've got some leverage with them if you have other policies. If that's a no-go then one of the collector co.'s. (or switch all your stuff to another carrier)
Big thing with insurance is the state your in, here in Florida it's high because of the no-fault coverage. Your medical (and anyone in your car) is paid on your policy even if the other driver is at fault.
When I lived in a small town in Ohio my insurance was less than half what it is down here. When I asked the agent he said "well how do people drive here compaired to back home?". Sucks, but there you have it...
