Saturday May 2 DCC meet
OK, I know it is almost sacralige to post about the DCC meeting a 1 1/2 weeks before the time, but May 2nd is the day after my B-Day, I may be picking Derrick up again, and it is AER Spring Nationals. A lot going on, and I am just wondering what the schedule is for DCC. I missed out on every AER event so far, so I am trying to match up my schedule.

Meet at AER around 8:30am, park under the canopy on the north side, walk down to the IHOP on Beltline, pig out on cakes, sausage, eggs, etc., waddle back to AER, enjoy the show, take lots of pictures, check out the money and honey, collect the trophy/prize, and head for home around 4:00pm.

Larry, perhaps you can clarify that one for those not as familiar with "the honey" ?

Well, I guess it depends on whether or not Derrick will be coming down that weekend. If so I will be on the way back at 8:30. It is his last weekend in Texas before going to Tindal AFB in Florida, so that will take priority for me.

Miles, YOU ARE EITHER SICK OR IN NEED OF SOME SERIOUS HONEY. Look at Jay's signature line for a true definition of "Honey"...it has to do with some form of lactation.
See ya next week at IHOP Addison. You need a "Rooty-Tooty Fresh and Fruity" NOW!

Larry's dream honey team....
Geeze, do I have to spell it out for everyone. Larry, are you showing off your "one pack" here? You must have called these girls before the show to color coordinate.
New numbers applied, new radiator hose, and cleaned up. I'm towing the Mustang this weekend.
Since we didn't do it with the midgets (OK, "little people"), I'm going to see how many Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders we can stuff into #10 (the new number).
BTW, CVAR runs next month at ECR. May 15th thru 17th. I ain't running, but I'll be there.

I missed last months get together. (motorcycle ride to Nacitoches Louisiana)
I`ll miss May`s get together. (motorcycle ride to Eureka Springs Arkansas)
I`ll make June`s get together though!
August still looks like a good date to "pull the trigger" on a B&B.

Just a suggestion, but you could pull it twice and get me one too. I would not complain much.

How's the weather?
How's the weather looking for tomorrows events? I am out of town but should be back tonight. I have been looking forward to the show all week, but the weather.com reports don't look to great.

This was one time I was happy to be towing the trailer. Medium rain on the way home. But once I hit Rockwall, it was like the Six Flags log ride. Unbelievable rain and wind. Our rain meter reads 4" from yesterday and last night.
Observations about showing my cars.
If I have to hear "is that a real one?" one more time, I'm gonna shoot myself. I thought showing the Mustang would have spared me. Even if it is a GT350 clone.
Types of people who are tough to deal with at shows:
a) The dude who just won't leave because he wants to tell how he's going to totally fix up his dads old 64-1/2 Mustang as soon as dad dies and he saves up enough money.
b) The guy who knows so much it's almost boring. He trumps you on everything said. Even knows what brand of toilet paper ol' Shelby uses.
c) The ones that just don't understand road racing. "Nope, not a drag racer. Nope, not dirt track either." "Yes I turn left, but right also. Yes part of the track is flat, but we run up and down hills too." "No not on city streets, it's a closed coarse". "Oh good Lord no, this is a VINTAGE RACE CAR. We don't "rub" each other off the track to win". "Nope, we don't use nitrous. That would be cheating".
d) The ones with kids who ask to sit in the car. But then won't get out!
Now don't get me wrong, I enjoy showing. But ya hafta deal with a bunch of knuckleheads just to talk with one or two great guys. I guess the world is being invaded by stupid.

Rainy Day Fun
I got about 10 blocks from home when all of the water started to flood the streets and all hell broke loose. Had a mini-van in front parting the sea. Water in one pool was at the door sill and spraying out like a power boat. My legs were wet, my feet soaked, I was wipping off the inside of the windshield with my right hand, feathering the clutch, goosing the accelerator, holding my breath, steering through a tributary of the East Fork of the Trinity, and made it home with the little six banger firing on maybe three.
The Austin Healey 3000 BJ8 was 1st in Class and totally drenched. Congtratulations to Richard, Best Cobra; John, Class Trophy Winner, Gary Class Trophy Winner, Steve, hehehe 2nd Place with his real race GT 350 ( 2 rivit missing clone).
We had a blast and we wish more could have supported a worthy charity and another great AER Show.

Well I didn't leave at 2:30 with everyone else and I guess a good thing too.
About 3:00-3:15 the wind picked up and the flood started. The over hang we parked under wasn't helping much now. Have you ever done the one man car cover thing in 35mph wind and a monsoon. Interesting.
Once I got the car cover on I noticed three holes about 3" in diameter, one on the hood, one between the seats, and one on the trunk perfectly spaced and right down the middle. Great!!@#%
Finally about 4:00 I saw my opening, just sprinkling and clear skys off to the north, but man there was still a lot of water on Beltline that had not drained off. Made it to 35 and you look up and all you see is a big wall of mist from all the vehicles.
I'm up on 35 now and I think all the 18 wheelers are on their radio talking to each other. " Look at this IDIOT in a car with no top let's see if we can pass him on both sides" They had me speeding up, slowing down, changing lanes all the way to Highland Village. I thought I was in a pin ball machine.
I did make it to the house before the next round of storms. Maybe if there is rain in the forecast this coming weekend we could make a run to Texoma or Paris.
I found the mystery of the three holes in my cover. The cover fell up against the exposed brake light in the trunk and it melted the holes in it.
My cover is made of material like a parachute. Anybody know of some patches I could sew on there that look like a snake or a pissed off rabbit or is that pissed on.
