Tulsa 2009

It's almost that time again. We will be arriving on Wednesday morning. Hopefully Clois will be reading this and he can go over on Tuesday and do a repeat of last year. I will be there early Wednesday to put out the cones. we do need to get an estimate on how many trailers will be attending. we try to obtain as much space as possible but we can't claim the whole lot so the early birds get the best parking.
Sammy is bringing the grill for Friday night and I have an assortment of HOT links....not for the faint of heart for starters. If anyone runs into Clois please remind him to read this post. He will know what I'm talking about.

Hey, welcome! If you are able to be in Tulsa June 24-28, you can catch us at the Ford Mid-America Meet:
http://www.midamericafordmeet.com/

You will see us making detailed arrangements here on this thread. The main hotel and event location is the Marriott Southern Hills, full right now, but you can get on a wait list or book another Tulsa hotel instead.

You might be due an apology having to live in Lawton, OK. I can say that, I was raised 20 miles north of Ft Sill. The people are simple and polite and there's a lot to see and do around the Wichita Mountains, I know them all like the back of my hand. I don't know any Cobra owners there, but you'll find thousands of miles of great, straight roads, not to mention the HUNDREDS of junkyards that probably still have some great FE parts, should you be so inclined to scavenge. Hope your cooling system works, because you haven't seen "hot" yet until August arrives. Oh, and go to Meers and have a Meers burger, enjoy the winding roads of the Wichitas and you'll forget, for at least a day, that you are probably the only guy in Lawton, Oklahoma with a Cobra replica.

It would be an easy shot up to Tulsa for the upcoming meet, probably 4 hours at moderate speed.

Understanding Lawton

thanks for the advice about Lawton. We have been here for about a month, and you are right about straight roads. We just left 18 months in the Monterey California Area. Sure do miss all of the twisties there. I am planning on going to Hallett in June. Finished the car all but final paint and body work in beginning of December, about 3000 miles ago. We finished the car at Ryan Leshers shop in salinas, he builds a Daytona Kit, featured in this months Kit Car builder. If there are any activities in the Dallas area we would probaly drive down. You are right we have shown up at a couple of car things around Lawton and the consensus is this is the only Cobra.

If there's anyone who's not attending the banquet Saturday night and would like to get away for a little, let me know, a bunch of us go to a local IHOP for a cruise-in Saturday nights. Great folks, nice cars and a good time!

I am thinking about attending the Sonic cruise-in Thursday night, but I'm being told you have to be a paid participant of the Shelby Meet to attend. Is this true?

dlampe 06-05-2009 08:38 PM

Hey Clois, is Sharon not going to be joining us?

Those beers and hamburgers are for you and I, right?;)

We usually have a cookout in the Texas Corner on the Fri of Mid-America. I brought the grill and cooked the last two years, and others provided sausage, dogs, buns, etc. So people can begin getting their assignments, let's post what we plan to bring. Hotdogs/Buns -
Salad/Slaw/Jello, etc. -

Hey are you guys all going to stay for the roadcorse SAt were looking at coming down just sat to to run for that day only so we can hangout with you RunnGuners

SSSammy 06-17-2009 05:50 PM

Yr buds will be at Hallett Sat all day. I see from the event website:
http://www.midamericafordmeet.com/index.htm that there is no registration Saturday at Hallett, so you will have to get your paperwork Friday at the Marriott between 4-7 pm. So I'd drop the trailer at the track Fri afternoon, go back to Tulsa and get your tickets, and then join our cookout :MECOOL: We'll be looking for you!

BTW, Hallett is 40 miles west of Tulsa!

Sam

Clois Harlan 06-18-2009 05:07 AM

Bill,

Sat is the best day for the road course because most of the cars go to the drag strip and we have plenty of room to "Streetch our legs" on the track. A few of us play our own version of TAG....

We would love to have you join us.

Clois

couple questions looking at options

do i read the info correctly, you can sign up at hallett fri. 8am-12pm for sat. event, or at the marriott fri. from 4pm-7pm for sat?

does hallett close the gates fri night with no entry or exit?

is the $15 gate fee charged to all entrants or is there a way around that for drivers who participate?

thanks
