Post Falken Tires

Hi everyone,

Does anyone have experience with Falken performance tires? Have heard their high performance line is pretty good. Thanks, Nick

I've got a set on my Cobra. The main reason is that I have 16" rims and there's almost no choice in wide performance tires in 16". Before I had Goodyear Gatorbacks and GY discontinued the size. BFG showed tires in the desired size but after waiting months I gave up that they would ever manufacture them. I sized my rims & tires back in the 90's same as what was being used on the Corvette with the logic that tires would be available for ever. Well, bad assumption. When rims bigger than 15" became the thing, they jumped to 17", 18" and bigger real fast.

Falken was really my only choice left. So far, I've been happy with them. They are better than the Gatorbacks for grip and seem to be wearing fine. I use my Cobra as a daily commuter but also still do some spirited driving. I haven't used the Falkens on a track so I can't comment there.

So no complaints about the Falkens and they weren't very expensive. I'm sure there's better tires out there but the price/perf on these seems to be good. And if you're in a no other choice situation like me (I don't want to buy new rims) they are great

Kevin & Joel, Thanks for the feed back. I'm sorting out a 2002 B & B build. Don't have much paper work on the car. Motor is 87 5.0 302 EFI. T-5 with 8.8 rear. Making some mods & updates. Just a street cruiser. It has 17" 245/45 front & 275/40 rear. Would like to know what pressure you're running?

Falken Azenis came with my new Backdraft and so far am very impressed with the grip. They are priced well too at Discount Tire if needed.

I also have Falken Azenis tires on my Backdraft (#1360). 245/18s on the front at 25 psi and 295/18s on the back at 25 psi. The tires meet my needs as I only drive on streets and never in the rain. Happy in Phoenix.

What do you guys think of Cooper Cobra R/T's? Having hell finding exact size for replacement in Falken and Avon. They don't make a 295/50R15 for the rear. Front is easy 235/60R15.

Those are virtually the same tire as the Mickey Thompson ST series tires (MT tires are made by Cooper). I run the MT ST's on my car (295/55-15 rear & 255/60-15 front) and am very pleased with them.

I have the Cooper Cobra's and am quite happy with them. I run a little high psi, at 27. You should be fine at 25-26 psi. I would not go lower than that. Not sure to what extent the warmer environment that you live in may have a different impact than here in the north east.
