Default Sumitomo tires

I have a Backdraft Cobra with 17 inch wheels and was wondering if anyone has installed Sumitomo tires on a cobra and what was your opinion.
The cost is only $600 from Tire rack so it's hard to turn down. Current tires are 10 years old with 7k miles and look great but 10 years may be time to refresh them.

If you like driving on ice skates, put em on.

Worst tire I've ever had. Could make them slide just by making a right turn with very little throttle. Sold them to a guy that only had a 250 hp motor in his FFR after about 200 miles. They should do fine for him.
Grabbed a sticky set of Nittos and never looked back.

Basically, they sucked. There's a reason why they're so cheap.

This is one area you want the best tire you can find. Only thing keeping you from punting a guardrail.

Agree with the use of Nitto 555 Extreme tires for a 17 wheel setup. They are available in the popular 315/35/17 for the rear and several sizes for front depending on your application? I have been running them for the past year and really pleased with all aspects from wear to performance of this tire. Had been running Michelin Pilot Sports which also performed very well on my car.

+1 on the Nitto NT555s. I put them on my 94 Corvette, then later on my Aston Martin DB7 Vantage, which has a 6L V12 torque monster engine. Plenty of grip, quiet, good ride quality, nice price and readily available at your local Discount Tire.

Wish they had these in 15" for the Cobra. I'm staying period correct on the MkIII, so it looks like Mickey Thompson's for me...

Discount is having a sale right now through April 2nd on wheels and tires. I'm going with Cooper Cobras. Wifie is cutting the Goodyear lettering for the tires. Will post pics when I get them done.

For a Cobra "In My Opinion"

you should buy the same high performance tires they install at the factory on Corvettes, Mustang GTs, Challengers, etc. Modern supercars

A high performance Cobra need high performance tires! I KNOW.

Buy the best tire you can because it my save your life, in a Cobra.
No door impact bars, no roof, just a 3/8' layer of fiberglass between you and a truck bumper, no air bags, no nothing!

You have to stop in the rain regardless of whether you have 200 hp or 600 hp.

Best tires and brake you can buy. Then buy horsepower and cup holders.

IMHO
