i guess i should have said when the tires are cold, not necessarily when it's cold outside...but take special care when it's sub 50 degrees; that's my experience anyway.

also agree that the avon's are dangerous in any kind of wet conditions.

I had 2 separate incidents with Avon's and won't use them anymore as an all around street tire. They are a very good track tire under optimal conditions.
