Sal,
I have lost ~10lbs over the winter sitting but during the season never need to address w/o tubes. Huh? Sal is the reason I got them in the first palce as he gave me great advice and he is right! Great sneakers.......BFG's blow. I run 23lbs at the rear and 25lbs in the front. Jeff |
I've been dying to go with the old school race tires for years, but have a few concerns. I run anywhere from 10-20,000 miles a year, and so far it doesn't sound good..............
1. For those of you who have been through a few sets - how many miles do you get out of the Billboards, or Bluestreaks?? (I know it's a subjective question for the rears, but maybe not the the fronts:):)??) 2. How long does the paint last on the BillBoards?? I'm washing the wheels because of brakedust every week or two - might not be worth the effort to maintain the paint?? |

I've been searching "Billboard" posts and will reply to this one. I have the same questions everyone else has, and find that the answers are 50%/50%, good and bad. How do they ride, through rocks, painting ect.....
I have posted a new thread about a possible "Group Buy". I'll attach the link momentarily. |
I ran them for over a year on the street and track. Now I run Avon's and will never go back to Billboards.

Installed a set of Billboards in May:
http://www.primequip.net/images/65%2...rd-May09-d.jpg http://www.primequip.net/images/65%2...rd-May09-e.jpg Comments/Experience: 1. Fit: very well, 10" tread fits better than the 11" tread of the Goodyear GTII's replaced. 2. Grip: excellent (Trade off does pick up gravel if there is any) 3. Cornering: excellent 4. Wet Roads: did not experience but these are race tires fro rain. 5. Roll: Good on smooth roads. Bias ply does tend to follow irregularities on secondary roads. More steering input needed. 6. Weight: significantly lighter weight, at least 15 lbs per corner. 7. Track day: excellent, can't ask for better. (OKAY: slicks might be better; tried them, too.) 8. Safety: on the track, no problem. On the street where I live, there are always road projects and other things like worn out roads and I was uncomfortable with possible damage, so...got a set of Mickey Thompson Sportsman S/T's for the street. 9. Look: Can't be beat; "right" look on our roadsters. Summary: Satisfactory street tire w some compromises as stated. Excellent track tire. |
Where to buy
Thank you for the information, I appreciate it.
can you also recommend me where to buy and how much shall I expect to pay. Again Thanks Ricardo |

Just an FYI for guys on the right coast I got a set to my door from Competition Tire East in Reading PA for $968. I like the feeling of being connected with the road for better or worse.

I have them on my car as well and love them. One suggestion is I has the 3M film product installed over the back fenders as these tires are very soft and will throw up any small debris. I noticed three days after I put the tires on the car some chips in the paint, that weren't there prior. Touched them up and had the stuff put on and all is well. It cost $150. Well worth it.

Billboard prices
Can anyone explain why most CSX, SPF and other dealers charge an extra $1400 for the Billboard upgrade? It looks like I can buy 4 tires for less than that and the upgrade should be the cost above whatever the standard tires are.

Better wheel weights.

I just noticed that my Billboards are 26.5 x 10.5 in the rear, not 26.5 x 10.0 as listed on all of these sites? My Billboards came on my CSX roller (as part of the expensive capitalistic upgrade) which is only about a year old. I assume that the 10.0 is a misprint?

I got my billboards from Roger Krause...(Bay area)
And YES!! he will ship. I think with shipping they were around 1100.00. Love the looks and hook up well. |
