I had one of my "Group Buys" for us on CC a while back.

The dealer was Carter-Maxwell, Inc in Bethany, OK.

Last time he said if we sold 5 sets, he would give us a 15% discount which is $794 + shipping.

I have mine but, if there's enough interest I can contact him again and see what he can do for you guys ?

I'm probably one a very few that prefer the Blue Streaks from Roger Krause. They are sticker and grip better than Billboards in my opinion. Softer compound, great track tire and come off the line like Drag Radials. If you drive hard you'll probably want to put Roger's number on your speed dial.

No. Only from select racing tire dealers.

I'm in for a set if we can put a group buy together.

blown871 02-13-2014 02:30 PM

Ok; I want a set.
when/where/how?
how much...
etc.

jetdok5 02-13-2014 07:38 PM

I am in also

set of billboards

sea2jet 02-14-2014 05:43 AM

I believe they cost about $303.00 each, last time I checked with Roger and Sasco. They definitely have gone up since the last group buy. I'll email Dave at Sasco and ask what he can do selling 5 sets or more. I know he is at the Palm Beach International Speedway for the races this weekend, so it might take some time for an answer. About 2 weeks ago I emailed Shelby to see what they would sell them for, but they never responded. A few years back they had better pricing than the 2 mentioned above.

awesome; thank you.

For not much more than the Goodyear Billboards you can get the Avon CR6ZZ which are legal, wear better and will not have the sidewalls deteriorate and crack in a year or two.

Stencil the Avons if you must have the big "GOODYEAR" but keep the race tires on the track and the street tires on the street.

blown871 02-14-2014 11:02 AM

.. that could do as well... I have seen a lot of chatter about stenciling the Avons..
anyone have success? have a template?

Kramer 02-14-2014 11:12 AM

I am needing tires as well ... Currently have the Billboards but they are cracking bad.
I, too, am wondering if anyone has success with lettering up AVONS with the GOODYEAR EAGLE. Logo

You can purchase stencils to paint on the lettering yourself.

I have heard of some people using Ranger brand tire paint with them, but there has been some experimenting with different paint, as well. Regardless, expect some eventual crazing/cracking due to sidewall flexing. It's common to the race cars though, so not a big deal as far as I am concerned.

You can also purchase "stick on" Billboard letters. They stand in relief compared to the painted letters, so not everyones cup of tea.

I don't know why the heck Goodyear just don't produce good modern DOT approved radial tires, with the Billboard lettering. It's not only Cobra owners that would buy them. It's so odd they haven't thought of that..?

Post 303 and 306 on G-Pete's scratch build thread shows how he did his.

Sooo... where to buy AVONS if Billboards are such an operation to get?

FatBoy 02-15-2014 02:23 AM

Why not just stencil the Avons with "AVON"?

East coast Sasco Sports

SascoSports Inc is a full-function racecar preparation restoration shop

West coast Roger Kraus Racing

Roger Kraus Racing - Pricing

And why the larger "Goodyear" lettering is so popular is a mystery....the Cobras never raced with such tires. The "Big" Goodyear style was introduced in the 80s in NASCAR.

I just sold another Superformance and the customer optioned up to the Avons....and he will be pleased!

When it comes to looks, nothing beats the billboards. To bad Goodyear doesn't make them in a radial tire.

But if they were radial, they wouldn't look like the current Billboards, they would look like the Avons.:)
The Goodyears look the way they do precisely because they aren't radials..
