Default Modification on McLEOD Clutch Kit

Hi, I'm Oliver a friend of Desmo that posted few weeks ago about his problem with his clutch on his Kirkham.

I've got a Unique Motorcars with a 427FE Top Oiler and a 4x spd toploader gearbox.

Currently I've got a steel Flywheel and a clutch kit that needs to be changed.

Desmo proposed to me his McLeod dual disk clutch kit + Aluminium Flywheel ==> see first picture.

This kit seems to be Ok for me but I would need to replace the disks (my input shaft is 1-1/16 whereas Desmo's kit is 1-3/16).

When comparing the weight of my old kit and the Desmo's kit the difference is only 24,7 Oz.

What I'd like to do is to use the Desmo's aluminium flywheel (if possible his pressure plate) and buy a new SINGLE disk that will fit on the McLeod flywheel and the pressure plate in order to reduce as much as I can the global weight.

Here are some pictures of the flywheel and the pressure plate including measurements.

Thanks for your help - I need to order parts required as soon as possible.

Pressure plates are designed to be used with a specific purpose and a specific air gap using a particular disc thickness. Since that Street Twin clutch that you have there is meant to be used with two clutch discs and a floater, I don't think that you will be able to use it with just one single disc.

Also, that is a custom application, and the Street Twin pressure plates are to only be used with the included flywheel. It's not a normal Long style pattern.

I can get replacement discs for you to match your input shaft dimensions and you can reuse the flywheel and pressure plate that you have.

Default Why not a 7 or 8" multi clutch??

OROBBE. Rob if you get a hold of brent bylins he can get what ever you need over night for this clutch setup. If you are worried about weight, a multi 8" or 7" would have done the trick too. I don't know what the power rate of your motor is or your driving, but for a nice strong street car, the top setup is the way to go. If you wear this setup out you either had too much abuse or ride the pedal. It's also good for about 700 ft of torque. Rick ps putting a street twin in my car next weekend.

Each disc is $166. Shipping would be $65. Total would be $397.

The pressure plate has to be set up for it. The Street Twin series is actually a hybrid of a Borg & Beck and a Long style pressure plate. The twin disc clutches have provisions for a floater and enough room to run two discs under the plate.
