Question block casting # question

I have the opportunity to pick up a NOS bare block pretty cheap.
It has a D4TE casting number I was told that it is a 390 but all I have been able to find it listed as is a 391 HD truck motor...is this true and even so would it be a good base to build from? and is it considered an FE block? Sorry for my ignorance but the deeper I dig into fords block numbering the more confusing the info seems to get.

Thanks for any info!
Dan

Default uh oh!

Man..only 4 posts and already on Crankys bad side.

Cranky,
I apologize. I think what happened is that I was reading your post on tremec trannys when the block question popped into my head and I just up and posted it right then and there. I hope you will accept my apologies for being a little quik on the draw.

well.. between this and the being from Syracuse/Zimmer thing
That makes two apologies in 5 posts. Hopefully I'll do better in the future
