Toploader trouble

Can anyone tell me if the the tranny in my ERA will come out of the bottom.I really don't want to have to pull the engine as well. But It will give something to do this weekend.
Not to sound like a rookie, but I have only had her for 2 weeks and I cannot find any info in my owners manuel or build history.

Quick,

I was hoping someone else w/ an ERA would jump in and answer your question. However, I think this issue may have been covered in a previous thread. I am almost certain it will come out from below but you may want to call one of the ERA guys to confirm. I just did a search on the ERA site for transmission removal and didn't find anything.

Guys,
The X member in the ERA chassis prevents trans. removal from below. Everybody I know with an ERA pulls them out thru the passenger compartment by removing drivers seat, carpet and tunnell.

That's how you do it. Take out the seats and tunnel. We have removed and installed transmissions in 5 ERA's. Doesn't take as near as long as you would think. Probably no more than a 30 minute job to take out just the transmission.

This thread was on the ERA site in October http://snipurl.com/ERAtrans and the consensus was that it can't be done without cutting something...I always removed mine from the top, very easy to do, and after reading that thread, I checked it out and pulled it out from the top again (had to change the clutch)...I think someone said they cut a gusset and replaced it with a bolt-in piece, but I found it simpler to pull it from the top.

IT comes out from above...

After most everything else is removed (seats, rugs, trannie hump, bezel, drive shaft shield and shaft.

Essentially, the reverse of putting the trannie in. The motor does not have to be pulled.

You guy's are awsome ! Thank you very much. I hope that I can return the favor some day. I'll let you guys know how it went and what that horrible screaming is I'm getting out of 4th gear.

Indeed let us know exactly what went wrong and what is screaming? Did you check the trannie for full load of oil BTW?
