Tko 600
Has anyone taken delivery of the New Tremec TKO 600 transmission yet
|
I'm hearing they are not in production yet. Scheduled to start soon, a couple to a few weeks. But, TKO500s are suppose to be in distributors hands ready for delivery.
|
I'm in the market for a TKO 500 but according to a California Distr. they're not available as of yet. They were expecting them last week but haven't shipped from the factory as of today. Distributor thinks there is a problem that is not yet worked out.
|
Try Mike Forte. He is a big Factory Five supporter, but he said he had TKO500s.
|
I Bought a TKO500 three weeks ago.

Have you installed it yet? How do you like it? Details... Thanks. |
The TKO 600s are now instock in many distributors.

I took delivery 5/25 for my TKO 600. I can actually see the light at the end of the tunnel. Can't wait!

Al:
Who did you get your 600 from? DonC |
I need to do something regarding my final drive ratios. Just can't go fast enough on the freeway to stay even with local traffic. I think the 500 series is plenty of tranny except I hear that 1st gear at 3:27 is very short and not terribly useful except to get rolling.
|
Sundown:
The Tremec ratios are: TKO 3.27, 1.98, 1.34, 1.0, 0.64 TKOII 3.27, 1.98, 1.34, 1.0, 0.83 600/500 2.87, 1.89, 1.28, 1.0, 0.82/0.64 Yes the 1st gear in the TKO and TKOII is low for most everything lower than a 2.88 (Richmond 5 speed has the same 1st gear ratio) which is why I'm holding out for the 600 to arrive. I think the ratios are a lot more useable across the board. DonC |
Don,
Is there a price difference for the 600? I was quoted about 1900 for a 500. THX |
Don, I got my 600 from Forte's Parts Connection.

FWIW, I've compiled a ratio-comparison chart of most available transmissions here.

strictlypersonl,
Not to be picky, but I just purchased a TKO 500. It has ratios similar to the 3550 (3.27, 1.97, 1.34, 1.00, 0.68). In the following link, it's just like the TCET 4615, except mine's called the TCET 5201, with a 26-spline input and 31-spline output. http://www.ttcautomotive.com/English/news/20news.asp Tim |
Rox',
Thanks, I'll fix that. |
Bob:
Thanks for the grid on the transmissions. I'm sure it will help a lot of people who are trying to figure out final drive ratios to have this all in one sheet. BobP comes through for the masses again. DonC |
I think the toploader ratios for the 3:31 in the ratio comparison charts are reversed.
