Default where to find a good 5 speed

whick cars and yr model do you find the better transmissions from, I am going to be running a 351 w. I am lost when it comes to fords. now if it was a chevy I would know. but I cant force myself to go chevy in a cobra. any imput would be helpful,,,, thanks guys

Dusty:

You might want to look into the new Tremec TKO 500 or 600 5-Speeds. They come in both Ford and Chevy and handle 500 ft/lb or 600 ft/lb and also have 8 different shifter locations. The Ford TKO's are about $70 less than the Chevy TKO's

If you don't want new then don't buy a T-5 prior to 1985 to be safe. Better yet find a 95 or newer GT or Cobra trans from a bone yard.

Yr models of 1983 and earlier T-5 are considered the weakest of all the T-5 transmissions.
