Default Hurst street super shifter ???

Hi all,
Has anyone used a hurst street super shifter? I am thinking about using one with my FE, big in/ big out top loader in my Shell Valley car. Any knowledge about shifter height and trans tunnel on these cars would be great and much appreciated.
Thanks,
Byron

I had one bolted to my toploader, it was great. I sold mine to Roger.

It has a reverse lockout and good feel for between gears. The heigth and location are where you put it.

I forged a handle for mine, you might want to do the same.

Just my $0.02

Hi Trularin,
I am looking at the street version without the lockout. Other than that they are supposed to be the same. I was thinking of a billet aluminum with holes in it and a billet round knob. So you think it will fit ok?
Thanks,
Byron

I used a stuck Comp Plus as the model to cut the hole and make the shift handle.

Once I did that, it was a matter of bolting the shifter in place and then setting the rods. If you have a torch, you can make your own rods.

The handle will need to be shifted about 3 inches to the right ( measure to make sure for yours ). There are two bolts on top, bolt the handle through the holes and you should be ready to go.

It was a good shifter for me. I had broken a Comp. Plus in London and got the Street Super as a replacement. I finally went to TKO600 later and am currently selling the whole shootin match to Roger.

Make sure you get a plate that is low enough or the shifter will hit the tunnel.

I think it will look great if that Aluminum is polished and clear coated. OR, you might want to think about having your name machine in the handle and knob ( or initials? ).

I powder coated the handle and used a Hurst T handle.

I can see 3/8 inch by 1.250 inch aluminum bar, bent 60 degree and a again 60 degees to put the handle up through a hole in the center. Then, you might want to tip it forward above the shift opening to put the knob forward for your hand placement ( did this and was nice for me ). Bevel 1/8 inch all edges and holes. Polished and clear coated. Turn the 3/8 bar to a 3/8 NC threaded end.

Yeah, that would be excellent.
