You just need to bleed it, just like your brakes.

Those things can be a real pain to get all the air out . Do you also have a hydraulic TOB ? Or just the hydraulic slave ? The best money I spent was for the Motive Products Power Bleeder .... approx $49 from Summit .
I also had to raise the rear of the car to get the clutch master cylinder at the highest point ... and then the front of the car to get the TOB so its bleeder port was the highest point . It doesn`t take much air at all to really cause a problem.

Thanks guys, I will get a bleeder ordered and do some more reading in the archives. I have only had the car for three weeks, but have put 900 miles on it so far. If the bleeding doesn't solve the problem, is the adjustment sensitive i.e one flat or half turn or wholeturn. How do I check for throw out bearing contact or not?The car pulls strong and does not appear to have any slipping on the clutch.
Thanks again for your help

It could be the clutch master cylinder. Shelby used Afco, they were often bad. Now they use CNC and they typically bleed properly.
Do you know what you have?

Thanks, don't know for sure. Any casting markings to look at on the cylinder to tell? Now that I think about it, the guy I purchased the car from did say he had changed to a larger diameter rod. I will check the receipts and see what replacement he used. The car had only been driven a few hundred miles since the change out.
Thanks Again

I should say on the cylinder what brand it is. I've had a lot of problems getting clutch's to bleed on the Shelby's with Afco cylinders. The CNC's are better but I got a really nice vacuum bleeder that made it much easier. Maybe if you drive the car to a brake specialty shop they can do it for you??
I wish I knew what the root cause of this is. A few years ago, the clutch's would bleed easily. Just a few pumps and it was done.
