Default Auxilliary Venturi Fit

Many of us purchased our 48 IDA Webers as used pieces. If you have not done so, check that the Auxilliary Venturi is snug in its fit. If any loosness is felt at the top (wiggle) it must be corrected or the suspect Carb throat will have a main system that may come on line irradically because of air leaks. The brass plug on the side of the carb that covers the spring clip can be carefully drilled out and threaded for a very short 3/8 SAE set screw. Do not over tighten and do use a little thread locker.

FYI, have the carb fully assembled when you are checking this. With the top off, even new carbs have some looseness (wiggle) in the aux. venturi which is normal.

Good point Z, the Stacks do add some stability but if it is still loose you have a problem.

A couple of mine were loose. Had to drill out the brass plugs and thread for short set screw.
