Default weber fuel log

Why did they weld fuel log on top of rad plumbing?

What im getting at is wouldn't the heat from rad plumbing migrate into fuel log thus heating the fuel before it even gets to carbs.

Always thought important to keep fuel cool.

It did work, and is still working. You're right of course, although it is more important to keep the air cool (more dense). As long as the fuel isn't close to boiling, it'll do.

It's important to remember, we're talking 1962 here. And the racing Cobra WAS good enough to trounce the bow wow, errr, I mean bow tie competition. That is what counted.

Not the best design. As long as you keep the fuel flowing, it doesn't heat too much. Stop for lunch & that radiated heat gets into the fuel. I cut a couple holes in my uprights & it helps a bit. Remember, these cars probably ran until the race was over. You can also run a return line to the tank to keep the fuel flowing.
