Default Linkage "paw and pin"

My Webers have a flimsy linkage between the carburetors. I've seen much studier on some V8's. Does anyone know where i can find the better levers?

Here's an example on ebay, but this one specifically states that it doesn't fit 48IDA. It calls the linkage the "paw and pin" throttle lever:

I agree on the flimsy linkage. I bought 2 of the ones you are looking at, from Pierce Manifolds. Not sure if the holes are the same size. The ones from Pierce Work. The adjoining part on the adjacent carburetor I had to modify. I welded a tab on it. I like the the new position of the adjusting screw better because it is more accessible.

I had previously spoken with Jim Inglese, and I may have him do the final tune once I'm done with it. At the time, he didn't want to sell me parts, and I didn't want to mail it all to him.

Of course, I know he's "the man" with respect to Webers.

I found the parts I'm looking for on the Pierce website for now, though.

DCOE, IDA, IDF inter-coupling levers<br><font color="red">45048.149</font>

and

48 IDA LINKAGE LEVER<br><font color="red">45032.057</font>

BTW, I purchased most of my jets from alfa1750 on ebay. The prices are great, and the parts show up in less than a week.

I am not sure which intake manifold you are using, opposed or parallel? Here is a system that I just installed on an original CSX2000 series 289 Cobra....

I like that one. I don't have a pic handy for mine.

My Webers are actually on a 351C in a Pantera. It has the bell crank in the center that pushes one side, and has a bar that links left to right.

I'm undecided on my Cobra. It currently has a tunnel wedge, but I'll probably eventually switch to Webers.

The photo below was mine before I upgraded to center bell crank with equal length arms. This is how some of the Weber kits ship &, is not a good setup. There are a few setups that work well. Even with the equal length arms, my mounting pad is not centered. So, things are still not "perfect". But, its not enough that I have any related issues.

*13* is correct. The one bar system connecting the left and right bank is not geometrically correct. Mike Pierce of Pierce Manifolds told me to go home and draw the setup to scale and watch the movement. I was astounded to see 1/8 of an inch difference in travel from side to side. I changed to a center bell crank that I made with 2 bearings to reduce the wobble of the bell crank. I took a measurement with 2 dial indicators and my side to side difference is .007 in. Thats not to say every thing is great. I'm still working on the tune.

Just a observation on my part but it is amazing how many people blame a Weber system for being temperamental when in fact the linkage system that is installed is the primary problem.

It's certainly something that's easy & obvious to take care of first. If you get the linkage, float levels, fuel pressure & mechanical advance sorted out, right off the bat, your jetting successes will be much more pleasurable.
