Default Weber Carbs turned fuel injection

If this thread continues to grow I will create another and link it to the fuel injection thread.


I was thinking of taking a IDA intake for a Ford FE and making some bosses for injectors. Then taking the 48 IDA and only using the carbs with out the fuel side. Of course all open ports to the fuel will be plugged.

Has anyone though of doing this or has it been done?

An NO I dont want to here about TWM or Dynatek systems.

This will help those looking to get into a EFI setup with spending the high dollar for those systems and having to sit on a carb setup.

Phil you have to have a calibrated Throttle position sensor as part of the entire system and it has to give feedbck to the computor that controls the injectors. AIN'T NO WAY BUDDY. It has to be integrated with the position of the throttle plate. If you have to, or if you can get someone from Inglese (Comp Cams) or other reputable Weber vendor and drop the dime to have them flown in to solve your problem. Might be the best money you spend. You have been struggleing with this for too long.

Rick,

This is not to solve my problem with the webers. I am just thinking out loud.

Besides a TPS is no problem. I have already fab one up for my LM1 so that when I do the data log I can see the percentage of the throttle against the rpm range. This is a good indication if you are using the pump jets.

TPS steady = no pump jets
TPS increasing = pump jets engaged.


This is actually something I am thinking about doing possibly during my next build.... possible GT 40.


BTW, as for the weber problems, I dont see anyone responding to the questions that I am asking in the other threads.

(Sometimes all a person neededs a person to bounce ideas off of and talk shop. I thank you for taking the time to speak to me when I call. I just wanted to hear others opinion on that subject. But like in the past no one ever responds)

Phil,
Have you contacted Stefan ("eljaro") from Mallorca, Spain? He has spent a tremendous amount of time learning the technical aspects of Weber operation and how the various components affect various engine performance parameters over a wide range of conditions. He is, in my opinion, a self-made expert. Send him a PM and ask your question again.

He is a great sounding board for your issues.
