Default WSCB '06 Site Visit - Trip Report May 7th

A group of us went up to finalize various things for WSCB, AND to pin down a few decisions for the Saturday Drive plan. Aside from a change to the room for Saturday night, everything is going as planned and maybe better; so far, knock on wood.

- ALL roads clear and clean including high mountain pass areas.

- Temperature was 72 degrees both days, at around 11:00 a.m., with little variance. The sun is bright and clear.

- Was able to arrange for a little hose/bucket wash area in the V.I.P parking section. I did not get a chance to see exactly where, but we'll have something on the grounds. I did get your emails about this.

- Drive Plan-A with the Squaw Valley lunch-stop destination is VERY COOL and picturesque right now. After staying there for 3 hours, having lunch, we want to bake in more stayover time there (1.5-2.0hrs) so people can come into the all new village and just relax, eat, get some beverages, walk around - just awesome. Stroker Bob did good on this one, all Bob's idea and a great one. Drive Plan-B (only if bad weather for plan-A) is out to the high desert by Pyramid lake. Wide open empty space out there with long smooth roads. We'll only do this if something prevents us from doing DriveA. If the weather is anything like yesterday, you guys are going to just love it. So cool.

- Snow caps on the Reno/Sparks surrounding valley mountains. Looks amazing. The temp right now is nice and may get a tad warmer over the next two weeks.

- Having the covered Corral is going to be a really good thing. The sun is tricky there with cool air. Unsuspecting people can get burned, and the extra shaded are between scheduled plans will be nice.

- Quite a little buzz going on in/around the Victorian square area with various events starting to happen each weekend. Some people there are starting to learn about WSCB coming now... we'll see what we get.

- Saturday Show / Spectator interest: I've received a few emails and relays about people wanting to come up for the day to the Car Show to come check it out. We have (required) drip pans allocated by the City to WSCB for registered participants based on headcounts. There are surrounding parking areas adjacent to the car show so there will be plenty of side spots (not on the sidewalks) if people come up. We need to let people know its from 5-8pm (afternoon/evening) later on after the cars come back from the drive on Saturday. We'll start to roll down there in groups of 10 cars at a time starting around 4:30pm or so. We'll need to exit at 8pm sharp and head back up to the Corral to get ready for the Ice Cream Awards at 9:00 in the Pavillions center inside the Nugget on the 2nd floor.

Each of you will get ALL the details and final schedule when you arrive, check in, and pick up your badge and materials. I'll send out one more large notification the Monday before the Bash.

Take Care, DC

Hey Maurice,

I can't wait to see them. I know they are both functional and stylish.
