Default July 31 - Route 66 to Pontiac

The weather for this coming weekend looks like its time to breakout the Cobras, for the Route 66 Poker Run to Pontiac, IL. Please respond on this site if you intend to run. This will be Sunday July 31st, planning of leaving by 9:00, breakfast if needed will be at 8AM. We'll meet at the Romeoville, Craker Barrrel at Route 55 and Weber Road.

What do members think about inviting other hot rodders to join in on the run, or should we keep it to cobras?

Not likely mine will be up and running by then. But I will reply again if things change.

Might be a little too warm for me, but I will come to breakfast and see how it goes from there. Light clothes and a lot of sunscreen and a cooler full of cold water. It will at least get me used to driving a hot car for the picnic/Volo the following weekend.

It's not that the sunshine scares me, but it does burn me like a lobster. Also, the higher the temp, the more my brain turns to mush, and driving these cars without a brain is asking for serious trouble.

Count me in for breakfast and the drive!

Looks like we'll have a good group for Sundays "WCCC Route 66 Poker Run" to Pontiac, IL. It will be hot so dress for the weather and bring water for the trip. Reservations have been made at the County Mansion for 11:AM for Brunch, hope we make it there on time! After Brunch we will continue on to Pontiac and visit the Rout 66 Museum, Livingstone County War Museum and the recently opened Pontiac Auto Museum. We will try to leave the Romeoville Cracker Barrel at Route 55 and Weber Rd as close to 9AM as possible. If you want to participate in the Poker Game, there will be a $10.00 anti to start your hand with 3 cards, (only one hand per car). There wll be additional opportunities (and prizes!) along the way to acquire additional cards for a winning hand. There are also some great photo ops along the way, so don't forget your camera. Hope to arive in Pontiac by 1PM allowing some time to visit this historic town & museums. Pontiac is located just off route 55 for a quick trip back home. (1.5 hrs to Addison) I will go over some additional details on Sunday morning. Look forward to "Get Your Kicks on Route 66".

OK, that does it, we're all going to Mommy's Birthday Party! What should we bring, Blas?
I'm sure Cobra rides like the ones in London would go over much better than Pony Rides!

Fred, looking at the responses, in case the Poker run falls through, here is another idea. There is a nice car show in Hebron that same day, just sayin'...

Close to Lake Geneva if you didn't want to spend a long time at the show.

Yes, Sunday is correct! I'm running the route with whom ever shows up. Still meet at the Craker Barrel, but may want to skip the breakfast and head out at 9am, on route towards Pontiac. There is a nice facility in Dwight, IL., called The Country Mansion that has a Buffet Breakfast 9am to 11am for $8.75 and a Buffet Brunch 11am to 1pm for $15.50, I can make reservation Friday Night based on the number of active members. Maybe this will be a Poker Run or maybe just a ride to Pontiac, but I'm not changing the date again, rain or shine we're going.

Fred
