Default British Car Show

A very early note regarding the British Car Show in September. There will be a new class added for the Cobras and other replica cars based on British cars. I know this has been a long time coming, but they finally gave in to reason and we are invited to participate next year.

In addition, this event is changing locations from Oakton Community College in DesPlaines to Harper College in Palatine... The WCCC member attendance is usually dismal for this event anyway... perhaps this new class will encourage more people to attend and display their cars... So are you volunteering to run the BCU event for the WCCC this year? It make sense since you are the farthest away from it...

FYI:
This British Car Union event date is September 9, 2012.
The Volo Cobra/Mustang/TBird Show is tentatively scheduled for September 1, 2012. (With the 2nd as the Rain date)

Blas, I think it makes much more sense for you to volunteer, since you are the closest to it...
not just distance wise but interest wise also!

I attended the british car show with jeff frigo, we were the only cobras in attendance and the guy we spoke to made it seem like we were unwanted and said cobras are not really british cars..so we parked ours right outside the event and had our own show! but overall a cool event and some great cars.

Kevin, I've heard similar situations happened in the past, but I have been poking the BCU through the Lotus Club that it would be in their best interest to include us and other replicas. IMO our cars are just as fun, even if they aren't "real" AC's, and more cars are better at a show. I'll keep working from behind thescenes to make sure they don't change their minds.

Blas, I plan on going as long as I don't end up with a class conflict. And Palatine isn't that far away. :-)

Renlady: It is nice on your part to see if you can get replicas in the show. I have been at it a couple of times, lots of neat cars and folks. The only thing I always find funny is the one guy with a white "continuation cobra" that gets into the show - I think the Superformances have just as much right to be there than he does, oh well. We are the misfits of the car scene, but we sure can cause a scene when we show up.

Have a Happy and safe Thanksgiving!

I had hoped to get us in last year, but my contact with the show went AWOL. The Lotus guys have seen how crazy I am for my Cobra, including bringing two Cobra models to their annual auction. They love cars and car people and understand that many visitors won't understand the difference between a continuation model and a replica, or even the difference between the models.

I believe the White Cobra is actually a newer AC car. It has been there many times over the years... I go every year, spend about an hour there and leave. Many cars to see, but once you see one MG, Healy, Jag, etc that pretty much covers it for me...I like looking thru the parts for sale at this event. I personally would not display my car at this event because it's really an all-day thing... with little groups. They don't seem to be big conversationalist's with non owners...Except the the guy with the Green Arnolt Bristol...and maybe one or two others...

The one with the red stripe is an Autokrafters. Look at the interior...not exactly Cobra reality.
