Default Chicago Drivers!!!!

Took a drive up to Chicago (Lincoln Park) to spend time with my daughter and son in law and to watch the Cubs beat the Braves.

HOW THE HELL DO YOU GUYS DRIVE THOSE LITTLE COBRAS AROUND IN THIS TOWN??????????
It's scarry!!!!!
I haven't had the guts to move the pick-up away from the curb since I got here.. Thank God you can walk to most places. I'm debating whether to just buy a place here and never move the truck...

Haha, glad you made it up for the game. GO CUBS!

It's actually not bad at all once you get used to things. The first thing you learn is to always be aware of every single driver on the road - you just have to be ready for people to swerve into your lane at any time. I actually find it less stressful to drive here than in Iowa because people seem to pay more attention to their driving (usually). I will say that turning right on Michigan Ave. can be hell if the pedestrian traffic is heavy.

Driving a cobra might be different if people decide to stare at the car instead of worrying about what's in front of them...

Talking chicago driving

Good to hear your around. My advice: take a cab. If your in the area try Topo Gigio on 1600 N Wells. Great Italian food at a good price. Go Cubbies.

Default Chi Town driving ???

Casaleenie,

You notice the guys that responded are not technically from
Chicago. They are suburbanites.
I actually live in Chicago, about 2 miles west of Wrigley field.

To answer your question
"HOW THE HELL DO YOU GUYS DRIVE THOSE LITTLE COBRAS AROUND IN THIS TOWN????????"

Never in some mess like cubs traffic.

But what really scares the HELL OUT OF ME is a saturday drive
near a suburban mall or shopping strip.
Huge mother honking SUVS with a mom on the cell phone,
going too fast, not paying attention, sipping on hot Starbucks,
and yelling at the kids!!!

So I have to give my suburbanite cobra driving buddies
a lot of credit for driving around out that way.

Or maybe the just use the backroads?

Uhh.. snake oil. I'm afraid I live in Lincoln park, about 2 miles closer to downtown Chicago than you are. I am NOT a suburbanite.

Incidentally where do you park your Cobra snake oil? Do you have a garage for it?

Yes most definitely a three car garage with an alarm and a pit bull just in case.

Got the testicles to move the truck today and make the trip home to Cleveland.. Heading back in three weeks for another week in that town... I fell in love with that damn place..
Walked all over the town and ate and drank all over the town..
Sullivans, Burwood Tavern and some Chinese place (Y2K) on Diversey.. A great French restaurant on Darcy(?). and Bistro 110
off Michigan Ave...
Can't wait to get back...

I have to agree with snake oil.
City traffic is much safer than suburban traffic.
