				 Cobra is sold...
Well, the time has arrived guys,
With the baby on the way, and with ATA filing for bankruptcy the inevitable has happened.

The Cobra has been sold.....

It sold on e-bay the other night. Now for the kicker...

The guy who bought it is going to have it shipped to Rome, Italy.

He's going to go Zooming around the Vatican I guess. He will definitely be the envy of his Piazza!!

Now, does anyone have any experience in overseas transactions???

Were working out the deal but was wondering if anybody had any does and don’ts about overseas money transactions...

I am pushing for a wire transfer and off course today is Sunday so I have to wait until tomorrow to talk to my bank about the details. I talked to Paypal and they want 3.9% transaction fee!!
And some of these escrow services want an even high percentage.

Anyway, I am soon to be Cobraless just like Sid....
If your curious Sid, she sold for $33,000.

Jack

Insist on a wire transfer...Go to your bank and explain what is happening to the bank manager. As with my last overseas purchaser, I opened a new "stand alone" bank account with $50, used it for the wire transfer, then closed the account out as soon as the funds cleared (usually 24-48 hours)..Do not accept an overseas bank check, do not accept "an agent for the buyer who will pay you with a bank check"........Only the wire transfer into your new account............

 Jack,
As Bill said, be very dilligant with your transaction overseas. There are a lot of scams involving EBay and cars. I am sure yours is legit, but you need to play it safe.

On another note, what is the likeliehood that you will land a job with someone that is taking over ATA's routes? I was supposed to fly ATA to Orlando last week. Was gonna send you a note to see if you were going to be doing either of the flights. I am going to miss ATA. For our reschedule, we are looking at alternatives, but the alternatives suck. No reasonable direct flights.

 Bill,
Thank you very much for your input. I am definitely going to heed your advise on the "stand alone" account!. I was just talking about doing that exact thing with my wife tonight at dinner. And it seems as though that should be the safest way to accomplish this transaction.

 Tom,

I don't know what is going to happen to my job and ATA. Let's just say that were only in the 2nd inning of this game and there is a lot of game left. I am sure that nobody is going to know what the outcome is until it actually happens.
On that same note, ATA is still flying a full schedule and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. Even if this Airtran deal goes through they are still going to lease ATA planes and crews to continue the same flight schedule for them for at least 6-9 months. So what I am saying is I would still book your ticket on us, and just be sure to charge it on your credit card for purchase protection for the worst case scenario.

 Take care all,
 Jack

JackI agree with what has been said so far. Remember it’s ‘buyer beware’. He has all the worrying to do.
You have only one concern – the money. Get it in real live American Greenback Dollars. Not Euro-dollars, not bank drafts, not a third party pay, not any type of a contingent promise - you want the bucks and you want them now.

Jack, as far as your job goes – I am sure you will ‘land on your feet’ as they say. There is no doubt Midway will stay busy for sometime to come. That means the plane may be painted a different color but they still need you.

Thinking about the car – I prefer to consider you as being ‘currently between Cobras’ rather than you are ‘Cobra-less’. I still expect to see you at upcoming Club events (remember there is always an empty seat). Make sure to reserve the date and RSVP for the winter party – I look forward to seeing you and your wife then.

 Jack,
I’m very sorry to hear we’ve sold your car…I know it was an integral part of your personality and how much you enjoyed “running through the gears.” Hopefully the economic environment will improve during 2005 and you’ll purchase another car for the spring driving season.

 Oh Chris, chris, chris....
When are we going to teach you that cars that are blue.....&.....black (I mean tires, not car color Arsenio) means that you have been beaten!!!

 Ha ha ha.....

As Blas, Erik, Marty & I know is that red is the way to go!

 That's ok, we'll teach you......

As far as the transaction goes, it is going very well so far. I have opened a new "stand alone" account with my bank. They tell me that when the funds arrive into the account that they should be available immediately. I will then transfer them immediately to another account.

I have spoken the man who is doing the shipping and transport for the Dr. who has purchased my car. Hopefully there will not be any problems and I will let you guy's know how it works out!!!

In the mean time - By RED!!!!!!!!!

Well so far the quickest (proven & consistent) car out of our bunch
is John's white car, second place is....
mine, Lowell's, Chris's & Rich Shelby all have run low 12's

I would include Wolfie but he just hasn't got the hang of it yet.

I don't see a red car.... Oh wait Marty's RED ran what high 14's?

Oh yeah and how could I forget my buddy Erik's Lipstick Red ???
high 12's respectable but I think that big block is slowin' him down
Not sure what Mike ran
So let's see that's 1st pl white
2nd place tied... Black, green and two blue
3rd place Lipstick Red, Torch red, Marty the RED

You guys and your red cars put your time slip
where we can see it!

Obviously all of the RED cars have the blues at the track.

Arcenio, do you have a list of everybody's times or slips from the track. I would be curious to see all of them.

Maybe we can put together a list of the times, so I know what I have to do to compete with the top dogs.

I think the two top dogs have power adders. I think I know what needs to be done to be competitive.

Well yeah, but we are cylinder challenged...
231 V6's thats almost exactly half of a 460 V8 !!!

I personally think it's the red paint drag coefficient that must be slowing them down...
Either that, or they need to use some slick Willie's car wax.
Makes your car slippery so it can slide through the air easier.
Every racer knows that !

I'm going to try some of that slick Willie's stuff. Maybe it'll knock a couple of 10ths off.

 Chris,
That illness you have is called....BOOST ENVY!

Have you had a ride in John or Arcenio's car?

Just so I'm not embarrassed again in the spring by the "blue" cars, just how much extra horsepower will it take to overcome the red paint drag. Sine I'll be ordering some up over the winter, I want to make sure to order enough.

 Jack I am just curious,
But first, congrats on selling your Cobra so soon. I am sure the trade off will be worth it.

Have you received your funds into your stand alone account? I have a friend selling his Cobra and I refered him to this thread for some guidance.

 Clois,
Sorry, I have not been on this website in a while as I have been working too much and the Holidays of course... Thank you by the way for the kind words...

To answer your question, I have recieved the deposit on the car into the stand alone account and have transfered it into another account allready.

This is a tricky transaction to do as I do not own the car outright yet, so now we are working out the rest of the details. The buyer is now going to wire transfer the payoff balance to the bank, wire the difference to my stand alone account, and when all funds have been transfered we will then make arrangements to have the car picked up.

This will hopefully be concluded by the end of next week.

The buyer is now wanting a lot of extra parts to shipped with the car, such as a heater and a soft top. He is buying these parts on his own and having them shipped to my house to be shipped with the car.

I'll let you know next week how it finishes up, but in the mean time I do have a $3000 deposit in my account.

 Jack
