Alright,
You guys are all off of your rockers. I suggest you all go to your garages and start your cars. Let them warm up for a minute... Now rev them to 5500 rpm's a couple of times. This usually helps the winter blues. Not that any of yus guys have tem. To the garage........... |

The 'original' Original on 159th in Oak Forest, and the 'new' Original on Rt 45 in Orland. The one in Orland has a lot of parking. For the northsiders, Walker Brothers is an Original Pancake house, they just got all pretentious when they opened up on the north side. :) |
Okay Guys,
I know we have dragged our feet in deciding where exactly on the south side we wanted to go. That's because we appointed a committee to make the decision. That committee has been reviewing the area and trying to come up with an attraction that would interest all of us. The first suggestion was the Ponderosa in Roseland, Indiana. For those of you that are unfamiliar with this location; let's just say it is kind of like the Algonquin of the area. While the general feeling was this cite (or is it site; or sight?) had universal interest for the club members - there was a problem. You see, while Cobra owners are willing to go topless in the middle of April. The Ponderosa people are not. So it back to the drawing board so to speak Now we are trying to set up a visit to Gess Motorsports. For those of you unfamiliar with Gess they are a builder located in Crete Illinois. (For those of you that wonder where Crete, Illinois is located; well me too, remember I am geographically challenged). Gess has built a number of Cobras and is helping at least one WCCC member finish their ride. Gess is also involved in the Hot Rod side of motorsports. The only difficulty seems to be getting them to commit almost 3 moths in advance of the event. So here is what the committee has come up with. Let’s use the Cracker Barrel in Matteson Illinois. (For those of you that wonder where Matteson, Illinois is located; well me too, I am still geographically challenged. But I am sure it is South someplace) That way, even if we can not get into Gess Motorsports on a Saturday we will have at lease crossed the so call Mason/Dixon line and and made it South of Madison Street. Can I get an 'Amen' to this? Rcih |
Amen!!!!!!
Now we're finally getting somewhere. I grew up around Matteson and Crete. In th family car it takes me about 1 hr. from Elgin. I have not owned my Cobra long enough to have had a chance to drive it down to my old stomping ground. I know with the Cobra it would only take me about 33 & 1/2 min to get to the Cracker Barrel in Matteson. Twenty-five minutes if I have the opertunity to get it into fifth gear. The Cracker Barrel and then down to Crete sounds like a fun ride to me. I'll just wear a disguise so as not to be recognized by the law inforcement officials as I may or maynot still be wanted for some minor motor vehicle infractions. If Blas decides to go along with us we may have to keep it down to about 75 mph in which case it will take us all of 45 minutes. That would still be fun, especially if we all drag race out of the toll cash boxes!!!!:MECOOL: |
HEY WOLFI..
YOU KNOW I CAN EDIT ANYTHING YOU WRITE ON THIS FORUM... Like: "If Blas decides to go along with us we may have to keep it down to about 75 mph in which case it will take us all of 45 minutes" To: "We may have to keep it down to about 75 mph because it blows my girly-mans skirt up if I go any faster... BTW... D&M called today....your AARP curb feelers and quick-jack decals came in today...they forwarded them to the senior center for you to pick up..... |
Blas, as you know the Scotish have warn girly-man skirts for centuries and I am very proud of my heritage and treasure my little skirt and ledderhosen! When I wear them in my Cobra I really don't know if the guys are gauking at me or my car.
I will pick up my AARP curb feelers at D & M on monday. I plan on retro fitting them on my cap and then I'm gonna sneek off to Algonquin and feel my way around. Cool ha! |
Gezz...
How could I inprove upon that... I yield .... |
Okay then if it’s settled, the Cracker Barrel in Matteson for Snake & Eggs then a drive to Crete on April 16th.
Wolfi…I’ll race you down there but please leave your cross dressing “little skirt and lederhosen” at home. Badman |
Hey Wolf,
You know, I am just curious. Please do not take this the wrong way. Truly, having already admitted to being born one the wrong side of the tracks; I understand I have no room to talk. Actually, truth be told, well; there are not too many branches on my family tree -- if you catch my drift. (My family is really from ‘da sous(e) si(d)’ – waaay south y’all) But I am curious; Lederhosen and Kilts? Together; at the same time? Okay, just what nationality are we talking about? By the way do you get a bag pipe or some other device with lots of long phallic thingies to squeeze while wearing these traditional outfits? Again, I mean no disrespect to your heritage – It’s just that inquiring minds want to know--- y’all. Rich |
I think I'm the mailmans kid.
|
How are we ever going to survive the winter??? The fever is overwelming. Chris, the thought of your dad wearing leiderhose under a kilt makes it worse. Please tell your mom to melt those keys.
|
Oh my goodness Rich!!!! did I accidently say lederhosen? Please forgive me as I am dislexic and get confused easily. I often can't tell the difference between 12 and 21, or red and green ,or ford or chevy, up or down, if you know what I mean. I did not mean that I wear lederhosens, what I ment to say was that I wear pantyhosens, whew!! thanks for letting me clear that up. I would hate to have you all think that there might be something wrong with me. There isn't anything wrong with me that a fast brisk Cobra ride wouldn't fix!
P.S. sorry Chris , but back in the early "70's" I was a mail man for a while! or was it a milk man? Remember I get confused alot.**) |

Okay I am humbled,
Sid, I have an extra seat - I hope; the winter projects are not going too well. Chris, I think in may be a typo; you should have said. 'I HOPE I'm tha mailmans kid. Wolf, I am truly humbled, I agree with Blas; 'How could I improve on that...' I too yield.... You da man Rich |
Wolfman,
I’m not being judgmental, but can’t picture any man wearing a skirt and lederhosen. (That’s an extremely ugly picture.) But this is America. The land of the free, home of the brave and the constitution guarantees your “freedom of expression”. Whatever blows up your skirt and makes you happy is fine with me. Badman |
You guys better two aspirin for the fever....
Wait...wait... I can see it now .... a State trooper on this side of Matteson. It' goes some thing like this....... Trooper getting back into his car as he picks up his radio to call this stop in: Yeah, yeah, that's right...No, you heard me right, some little coccky guy doing well over 100mph in a ... well I think its some kinda old race car or somethin'. Yeah but that's not the best part... He's wearing a skirt and pantyhose...??? Yeah, yeah ..Hey, Hey can you stop laughing long enough to check that plate for me??? Radio crackles back: 10-4 he's wanted on four counts. Not being able to see over the hood, driving to fast for wearing a skirt, Crossing the mason/ Dixon line and lastly LIGHTING 'EM UP!!!! I suggest you take him in.... IF you can stop laughing long enough Trooper: On second thought better send some back up... Here comes two red ones... one with a gold stripe doing 75 one with a white stripe going 55? %/ %/ %/    |
How do I keep getting dragged into this?
|
Don Blas just when you thought you were out...
'THEY KEEP PULLING ME BACK IN" such is the life of a "DON" |
Guys, I finally figured it out. We are all in the cobra club, we go to cobra breakfasts, cobra poker runs and cobra drag races. We all drive cobra's, wax cobras, repair cobras and do cobra burnouts. But I now see that this is just a very cleaver front to cover up the true reason you are in the club. WCCWC - short for Windy City Creative Writing Club. Keep up the great writing! I'm laughing my *** off.

Folks,
Thanks so very much for the welcome invitation. I am looking forward to meeting you all. I have to admit that you guys do get into your Snake and eggs...my my my, such attention to detail. Seriously, you guys sound like your itching for a nice day to fuel up and turn em out. Any place sounds great to me. Believe it or not, I have never seen more than two Cobras together at any one place except at the dealer, and I had no idea how much fun it was to drive one much less own one. My blue and white (yes, another blue one) cobra is just waiting for nice weather to put my license at risk in the name of good clean fun. To drive with others of like minds (perhaps a scary thought) will be a charge for me (hopefully not in the legal sense). I am trying to get out of a pre-arranged obligation to come out on Sunday and meet you all. Either way I look forward to making new friends and learning (I have so much to learn) about the finer points of owning and driving my car. Keith |
