Snake & Eggs in 100 Days

Hey Everybody,

Hope y’all had safe and happy New Year’s celebration.
Well, I have finally sobered-up and actually had an idea. I would like to suggest a 100 day (or so) countdown to a Snake & eggs.
The unique thing about this S&E -- we should be able to drive our cars!!! I am suggesting the date of April 16th – that is a Saturday.
If it can be 50 degrees in December and January we should be able to expect a decent day in April.
Realize, by that date things will be very different. Most of us will have paid Uncle Sam. Major league baseball would have started. The Cubs will have already played four different opponents. Loyal fans could already be saying, ‘Yea, but wait until……..’
I am well aware of the reality of our Chicago weather; rain could be a factor. We could use the following weekend as a ‘weather day’.
What does anyone think – could we have our cars on the road by mid-April?

Rich,

Pick a place for breakfast and I'll be there.

Good idea Rich. I am hoping my car will be done. My lips will be getting awful sore by then.

Badman,

That’s an excellent question. WCCC gets accused of doing too many things up North.
I grew up on the South side (pronounced souse-side). So, I know what it is like to be discriminated against.
I mean, you are assumed (or forced) to be a Sox fan. You must pronounce all words that begin with a ‘TH’ as if they were spelled with a ‘D’. You can not eat meat on Friday – no matter what your religion. The streets all have numbers, rather than names; making them possible to remember. While the mayor comes from the area; your neighborhood smells of industry than moved out 25 years ago.
Yes, I am scared for life; and proud of it.

So, I strongly feel, the location should be to the South.
I invite suggestions from members that know of any appropriate establishment.

Souse-siders’; what do you think?

Rich

Dear "Cobra Buddies"

April 16th , 2005 sounds cool, but spring starts March 21st. so I guess my car should be well broken in by the 16th. I'm almost positive that my car will hit the pavement before that date. My neighbors are getting annoyed with me starting the car and laying a double patch down the street in front of my house everytime the roads clear up a little bit. So I'm pretty antsy to really drive again. As far as the location I could care less, as I'm on the south side of Elgin right now anyway, Oh wait, no I'm not, I'm on the outskirts of the northeast side of the upper end of the lower quadrent of Elgin? I think? But anyway I'm origanally from the southern burbs of Chicago and I'm not too scared to go anywhere. To make it fun and exciting for everyone why don't you choose a cool place on the east side of chicago just east of the lake? Now that would be a fun drive!

Hi everyone,

Speaking for myself, it doesn’t mater where we schedule our April 16th breakfast. (Have car; will travel.) Someone pick a spot and I’ll be there.

Rich I believe it's actually "souse, si..." there is no D on the end of it.

As far as south goes that depends on who you are talking to.
And where you both are standing when you say it.

South of what? So far John Spina's S&E on Taylor Street was as far south / east as we've been for a Snake & Eggs.
We've also been to Naperville Cracker Barrell.
Which is considered by some to be "West"
If you live in Tinley Park or Orland Park.

I beleive the actual furthest South S&E we had was Merriville.
When we met to go to "Da FLING"
and that is South of Tinley and Orland Park!

But heck I'm for it no matter where it is.

Somewhere in the Midwest is good for me

Wolfie 01-04-2005 06:51 PM

Marty I really like your attitude. The further the better for me because I go for the ride more so than the food!

Lets go south. Tinley, Oak Forest, Orland Park. Lets put some break in miles on some new rubber this spring. How about Bloomington/Normal? Visit our real south central compadres?

OhBuoy 01-05-2005 04:37 AM

If we are going with Lume's and going south, lets go further South to Orland Park. 159th east of Route 45. Or Cracker Barrell in Tinley Park which is closer to a highway. You Northern folk could take 294 South (remember the I-Pass) or 55 South to 80 and head East or West appropriately.

Tom (I think, not sure when my name was changed to Bob)

If we go to Key West Floriday I recommend that we wait untill October so that we can go during Fantasy fest!! That would be great rumbling through town with "all" of the tops down. If you know wht I mean!

I’m up for a Key West Florida WCCC Snake & Eggs in April. Do you think Jimmy Buffett will join us for breakfast?

New Cobra owner

Hello everyone,

If I can, I would like to introduce myself to the group. My SPF Cobra purchase took place in October of 2004, so I have only had a few weeks to drive the car before storage. I'm from Orland Park and wanted to say hello to the Windy City Cobra Club members. During the winter I will be taking care of a few odds and ends but hope to meet you all in person. My name is Keith and I am the very proud owner of SPF # 1370.
There are more questions than answers, but I hope to join in the discussions and add my view as well. And when the weather warms up a bit I look forward to meeting up for a long ride.
By the way, Snake and eggs in the Orland / Tinley area sounds good, but then I maybe bias on that point.

Hello Keith
If you would like to join in go to the thread, "2004 winter party" and there is an E-mail address in the first post for the club. Welcome
Marty Cook

Welcome Keith,
I'm originally from the southern suburbs. I actually have a few friends from Orland park. I look forward to riding down in that area.
