Sid: I have run with the NSSCC guys, they are well organized and have a full schedule of events at multiple tracks.

Tim when did you run with the NSSCC guys? Which car where you using? The Vette? You had one right? How many events have you done? Your going to hate me... LOL! Sid**) **) **) |
Sid: I ran the 'vette, only got on the track once before - a rule change would have caused too many mods, that's when I decided to build the FFR. I've worked their events at Blackhawk, Autobahn, and Road America. Nice folks. What am I missing?

Cool! yeah they seem pretty good. I've only touched the track 3 times. 2 Touring sessions. NSSCC indoor driving school. And when I voulenteered as a corner worker at Autobahn. Both times in the Mazda. Once in the cobra at Mid Ohio. That alone got me the itch. Got the bug this year and hope to go nuts next year.

Sid: I read the NSSCC season summary and if memory serves me correctly there is at least 1 if not 2 guys running Cobras . I think they put them in a tough class so then run mid-pack. Maybe we can get a couple more so we can at least have a Cobra bragging rights trophy - I'm sure I can lock up last place.

Here are two more track day links:
http://www.mvptracktime.com/id25.html 2008 dates are posted. http://roadamerica.fbody.us/ Usually RA dates in April and October. For novices, I recommend NASA's HPDE program; class room instruction and instructors in the car with you. Cobra roll bars were allowed in 2007. http://www.nasaproracing.com/hpde/index.html RA, Autobahn, Gingerman, Putnam events planned for 2008. The NASA Factory Five series is a race group; roll bars and competition license required. Some of the clubs enforce a 1 or 2 inch "broom stick" rule. This a broom stick laying on the rollbar and the windshield; you must have 1 or 2 inches clearance between the stick and your helmet. Most clubs have the rule but some do not enforce it. Check before you sign up. Email me if you want more info. Jim |
There we go! THANKS JIM!! Totally forgot about MVP.
|
Factory Five Challenge requires an Factory Five Challenge specification car. But non spec cars (ie: non 5.0 liter engine...) can do HPDE and Time Trial in other classes (without having to change their car or buy or build an FFC car.)
Sid: Best starting point for next season might be another group visit to NSSCC's spring indoor driver's school which will include track time at Autobahn again this spring. |
Yeah I was thinking the same thing. It would be perfect to get all interested there. I'll shoot them an email and see if they set a date yet.

INDOOR DRIVING SCHOOL-NSSCC
March 29th at Autobahn Country Club. Don't have a time yet. Started at 8am last time I think. MVP-Mark how many do you have signed up for blackhawk 2 day in Sept? Sid |
I can't believe you forgot Run and Gun! That is the granddy of Replica track events! This will be the 21st year for the event! That should be the first on the list. ( I might be a little bias). It is a shame that we have cars from Canada to Florida and New York to Arizona and we have so few from Chicago. I hope more of you can make it this year.
